To prevent bleeding of epoxy into neighboring wood, try (experiment on scrap) a coat of sanding sealer before cutting slots for filler. While you are experimenting, you might try the sealer after cutting slots instead/also.
Good luck.

That is a very kind and innovative way to boost the spirits of those with advanced seniority, who many times feel forgotten, especially at this time of isolation due to the virus that threatens us all today. There are always opportunities to serve others and thus show the love of God if we will just...

I just got my 8 string lap steel a short time ago and this (hitting wrong string) is the beast I am currently battling, along with changing from Dobro tuning to C6, which has it's own set of challenges. I am confident that if the Lord gives me enough time I will get there but the thought of 13 strin...

new to steel
You guys are just great. Yes, Lee, Victoria is one hour away. I have intended to attend one of their meetings but am recovering from back surgery right now. I have enjoyed all the posts directed to me and have learned a few things I didn't know from them. Thank you all. I won't be diving in too deep...

New to pedal steel
Many thanks for all the responses. Some very good information and excellent advice. I really appreciate it. I'm in no great rush so I will take time to hear different makes and talk to players when I can find one.
Thanks again for your responses.

New to pedal steel
Hey, Guys; I have been playing lap steel a while and would like to get into pedals. I know next to nothing about it except that I like the sound. Question: What is "push-pull", and are there any known pitfalls a beginner should avoid when buying his first pedal steel? Also, does anyone kno...

Hi, Kris; I have my Powerslide tuned open G (Dobro) tuning, as C6 escapes me thus far and I haven't tried any others. I use 16,18,28,35,45,56 string gauges and run through a Fishman Loudbox Mini amp with good results. Results may vary though, as a friend has the same setup and it sounds different wh...

Fender Champion and Champ, difference?
I am curious why there are Fender Champions and Champs, is there a difference and if so, what?

Here in Rockport there are jams almost every night (and some afternoons) during the months when our winter Texan friends are here. Although you never know what or whom to expect, I am usually the only steel player to show so I normally get to play quite a bit. Other Dobro players come but the jams a...

loose tunning machines
Hey, Guys; Just acquired an antique lap steel and having trouble keeping it in tune. Seems like tuning machines are worn out although the rest of the guitar is almost in pristine condition (for it's age). Is it possible to tighten them or is replacement the only option? I'd really like to keep it as...
