This is cool! I'm familiar with Ingrid Laubrock from watching youtube videos of her performing with Mary Halvorson. She's awesome. Gonna check this out now.

I'd reconsider leaving in that pickup especially if it still works correctly, and if it means altering the neck. I'm no expert, but if it's like the one in my 6139 those things sound amazing.

Ok. Ive got em all cleaned up. . I’m gonna drip a drop or so of Tri-flow on each rivet of the finger and then I’ll lube the axle as I’m reassembling. This is one of those wood wrap around neck 6139 so the comb part comes out with the changer. Thanks again.

Reassembling Sho-Bud 6139 changer

Sorry for all these posts about me cleaning my changer but I have 2 more questions...

1. Is Tri-flow ok to use on the changer axle?
2. Should I lubricate each piece separately or when I got the thing all back together?

Thanks for all your patience and help.

That’s a cool idea. That thing kinda looks like a deep fryer for parts cleaning. Slowly getting there now. I can already tell a difference in just how freely these fingers pivot now. There was so much waxy gunk in there — no wonder it was sloppy.

Well, it’s slow going so far. I got 2 of the fingers clean. I’m using a ronsonol and a toothbrush. Some of this crud is really stuck on there. Almost like
Glue. I wonder if I can use a scotch brite?

No turning back now

I guess 50 years of crud in here. Hope I can put it back together. Wish me luck. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/17922_F7A19DA81DA248FE8F2BB1FD6FEBF009_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/17922_0D2ABABBE9514FB981332D4C6137F0BF_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/use...

I wrote out a quick tab just so I wouldn’t need to rewind the video to learn the lick. Not sure how accurate it is. The last little bit where you are at the 5th fret and slide down to the 2nd fret I may not have right. I need to work out the best picking too. Ive only been playing pedal steel a sh...

This is a very cool lick. I have a similar Sho-Bud so I usually gravitate to stuff featured on these. I think I've figured it out using the slow options on Youtube, though it'll take ages for me to bring it up to speed. Thanks for posting this!

Pedal rod connectors set of 4

Set of 4 ball joint pedal rod connectors. These came as extras in a case from a Sho-Bud 6139 I bought. I don't have a caliper or any precise way to measure these out. However they fit the rods that came with the guitar. $20 shipped. PayPal https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/17922_IMG_3951_1...

I have one of these. I think I was able to place mine around late '68 after researching all the serial numbers the best I could. Every one of these seems to have a different inlay pattern too.

I think this one is pretty low-profile. At least in comparison to those old chrome Morley wahs. It sits lower than the VPjr I had. In fact, I think I'm gonna buy some taller rubber feet for the 2 front ones to get a better angle. There's also quite a few videos on youtube if you want an easy mod to ...

I use a Morley Volume Plus with the little taper pot on the edge. Its an optical that runs on a battery. I bought it cheap after my Goodrich I have got a scratchy pot and I got too lazy to fix it. I know they make several different variations of these Morleys, but mine sits low and is easy to use un...

Just email Michael Yahl at PSGparts and tell him what you want. He'll recommend you the right parts. I had him build 3 racks for my 6139 and they are better than the original ones I had on there. Fast turnaround too. Good luck.

Ok. Had a chance to get under it and see where I went wrong. I loosened and backed off the barrels that are on the RKL and RKR I added. They were so overtuned the rods wouldn't let the fingers return all the way back. Once I did that, I was able to reset the barrels to five turns open, tightened it ...

I took another look and decided to loosen the barrels and pull the rods on the offending fingers and they went back to their neutral spot...albeit rather slowly. I think I still need to deep clean the changer as I poked around with a flashlight and could see tons of lint, hair and old grease all aro...

Hi Garry, Is it your 4th string not returning? The picture you show looks like the lower plate on that finger isn’t engaging all the way back to the bezel. One thing you might try is tightening the screw on that return spring a few turns to give a little more oomph to return that changer finger t...
