Very nice Jon ! I attended my first yoga class with Steve Kimock playing the guitar live (and a real yoga teacher also :)) !! Funny to connect him to DL Lapsteel and Roosevelt :) To be honest I wish I could find a lap steel with a big sound, in the spirit of Roosevelt Lee boys, Campbell Brothers ......

Thanks David that's very kind of you. Funny the article in Premier is talking about a Lee Boys oversea tour in France back in 2003. In fact I saw the Lee Boys in "Cognac Blues Passion" in France that year without even knowing it just before Roy Hargrove RH Factor concert ! At that time I w...

help identifying an instrument (lap steel/Roosevelt Collier)

Hello, I was wondering if you knew what lap steel brand/model Roosevelt Collier is playing on these pictures ? Is it a "homemade" project or does it relate to a known manufacturer ? Thanks a lot everyone. Bye https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/17789_5_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarf...

Advice on pickup enhancement to a Guyatone steel (S8)

Hello reader :), I have a guyatone lap steel S8 wich has two pickups like the one on the picture here and I have a problem with the output on the high E string. It seems like the volume is lower than the 2 previous strings, it has somehow less punch. That is annoying because a lot goes melodywise on...

Hello Dom, you're right I asked Anthony and he replied it was C6 with pedals. If I was to play pedal steel that's definitely that kind of thing I'd like to go to !

Moonlight in Vermont mystery tuning ?

Hello everyone. I have a tuning question, I wanted to try to work on this song using that absolutely beautiful version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA6wmKqdFHw That is Anthony Locke playing, what a player ! So my searches got me ending at a B11 tuning resembling an A6 with a D#, he talks about ...

Thanks Douglas for all these infos it is really helping. Thanks also Guy and K Maul for your input. So I didn't know the differences btw spider & biscuit bridges, square/round. I thought it was only a raised nut thing. I am more into lap steel sound, say western swing jazz with a touch of sacred...

resonator suggestion

Hi everyone, I started a topic the other day on acoustic solutions for Lap Steel and after recommendations I think I might get a 6 string resonator that I would tune to A6 for practice during vacation. I know it's best to buy vintage usually as many here recommend buying vintage lap steels like magn...

Hello, I am bumping that topic ! I wanted to share some experiment on this song. I am a beginner lap steel player and that's one I really wanted to be able to play. Unfortunately I quickly found it was very challenging to play without pedals ... Plus I could not find Mike Neer's version anymore ... ...

Hi everyone I am still thinking this through. Do you think I could have an A6 tuning over a Dobro ? I don't easily find information on that with the search criterias on the forum. Is that possible ? For me that would be best as I am totally in that tuning, even with 6 strings, I could still play the...

Thanks friends for all your comments. I already have a small vox amp where I put a lead battery so that's not really the way I want to go. I thank you for pointing me to the PBS gold tone resonator. I might also consider a 6 string maybe ... that could be cheaper and have more options available. I w...

acoustic solution for lap steel ? dobro ?

Hi everyone ! I was asking myself on how to play the lap steel when on vacation where I would have no electricity. Does 8 string acoustic lap steels exist or do I have to stick with 6 strings like dobros (I play a fender champ copy (guyatone 8)) ? If you have any suggestion on such a musical device ...

Thanks a lot David. I am not that familiar with the undercartriage of pedal steels and it can get pretty complicated to my eyes.
