Howard, Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my post. I finally watched the video link you sent me; so much great information. I wish that I had watched that before I started performing "surgery" on my dearly departed late 90's import Regal and my current early 00's Vintage R, wh...

Howard, Thank you so much for your reply. My first reaction was to indeed tighten the tension screw about a half turn which didn't seem to do anything, perhaps I could go tighter. I changed the strings and it seemed a little better, barely noticeable tuned to open G with the bar across all the strin...

How are we cleaning our reso cones these days?

Hey Gang, I've got a Beard MA-6 that sounded absolutely gorgeous when I got it just over three years ago from Elderly. Last year I noticed a "buzzing" on the fifth string, mostly between the third and fifth fret. I assume it's time to takeoff the cover-plate and clean the cone. What's the ...

Hi Andrew,

Nothing too radical but I changed my focus from Open G on Dobro, which I've played for decades, to Open D, just a few years in. I still play Open G at home but when I get together with friends I try to stick with Open D. Best of luck and keep on keepin' on.

Jack,

I believe that's Joe DeRita on the drum kit, but certainly a great picture. Thanks for posting.

Hi Ryan,

Hope you're healing up well. Still love to see some pictures, especially that Hudson, regardless when you ship them.

Thanks again,

Reinhard,

I really like the open G tuning (GBDGBD) for lap steel, and Dobro as well. Strings 4, 3, and 2 in this tuning are the same as Standard tuning - if that's what you're familiar with. Check it out.

Have fun,

Carmen,

I'm sort of new to digital recording. I plan on installing Garage Band on my iPad and plugging in my lap steel via an IRig Pro, which has a headphone jack, or similar device. I would imagine the Baggs DI wouldn't be necessary?

Thanks again,

That sounded great. I've been thinking about doing some recording on the iPad I recently got. Could you tell us about your set up? Thanks so much.

Hey, I read somewhere - a Time-Life mid seventies country compilation CD's liner notes, I believe - that a real door was recorded without success and that a smaller door and frame were constructed specifically for the effect.

Carl, I used to really like my BJS bar when I used a bullet style bar and played C6, I guess it's what they call the 3/4" six string on their web sight (bjsbars.com). Quality stuff. I've been playing more dobro lately, and play electric in open G as well. I'm crazy about the new Sheerhorn bar. ...
