WOW! Thank you everyone for all your inputs (no pun intended)! I am very appreciative of this information. Steve, I really appreciated the 'zoomed out' approach. I think with so much going on a work (life is hectic) your response is something I've been mulling over a lot - a sort of mental exercise ...

Improving Pedal Steel Sound without an amp (mixer only)
Hi, I am exploring ways to improve my pedal steel sound a little bit SO before spending time and money on renting different pedals and equipment I thought I'd ask around here first! I have a solo project where I sing and play a pedal steel guitar, along with a handful of other instruments and 'devic...

Thanks Richard, I did not realize Steel Guitars of Canada had shut town. I sure wish Al Brisco the best - he is a really great guy. When I purchased my first pedal steel guitar (I knew nothing about them) I actually emailed Al a couple links to pedal steels that were available on Craigslist in Vanco...

I had the same problem with my Carter. My solution was simply to change the string to a different one! At the time I was experimenting with different strings and some of them threw off my split tuning...not sure why, but I would try to go with the strings recommended for your guitar or contact Steel...

Duesenberg Lap Steel Parts
Hi, I have a Duesenberg Fairytale lap steel mostly so I don't have to lug my pedal steel to informal jam sessions with friends. However, I am having a few regrets as I am having a really hard time finding parts for it. I have reached out to most of the suppliers I could find online, as well as to Du...

Recommended instructional materials for number system player
Hi, I would like to take another step in my playing ability and I am thinking about ordering some form of structured instructional material whether that is online or mailed in. I am self taught. I have learned my guitar's codependent to second nature and have a thorough ability to play the 'numbers ...

Just a quick question...
Hi, Anybody every hear of (or done) this: Rewire (or, reconfigure) a double neck guitar to play both E9 and C7 at the same time. As I understand it, there is a toggle switch that switches between pickups on double neck guitars? *I have never seen a double neck irl - I own a S-10. I can imagine it co...

undercarriage 'clicking' sounds when pressing on pedals...
When I step on the C pedal on my carter 3x5 there is a lot of movement in the undercarriage. so much so that I get a clicking sound when I press the C. I looked underneath and it seems like the bars running perpendicular to the the rods (bell cranks, etc?) have a lot of movement back and forth. They...

Getting a grip (on where to go next)
Hello, I have a Carter 5x3 E9th set-up and I am teaching myself 'how to play'. Based on my analysis of the tuning and the fretboard, my approach has been to focus on the 1,3,5 and 6,7,8 (B, E, G#) strings and find 'horizontal' scales along the neck with all those strings. So far this has worked out ...

What do I tune my other levers to?
Ok, I have a 2010 Carter pedal steel - 10 string, 3 pedals, 5 knee levers. I go off of these tunings (pictured) They are not 'tuned to whachever you may call it'(true tuning?) but they are altered and I like it and it works for me. Missing the correct tunings for my 'g' and 'f' lever? I use to just ...
