My condolences on the loss of your husband.
Did he make it ?

I don't think that $ 500 is too much to ask for such a beautiful instrument. If you don't need the money, you might hold onto it until the right person sees it. Good luck with it.

In a later video, she says she is using standard dobro tuning ?

Time to order a few sets of strings and experiment.

The scale is 21 inches, and yes, I did mean DBGDBG. That is the tuning that Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe uses. https://www.facebook.com/larkinpoe/videos/211530950107089/?v=211530950107089&external_log_id=6fc7334a0aeade08bfb817846b0a8f2d&q=larkin%20poe I guess if I want to go to GBDGBD I can ju...

dobro tuning on a rogue

I have a rogue lap steel that I would like to try tuning to DBGDBG. 2 questions 1) Can I get by using the strings that are on it ( C6 ), or will I need to replace the strings ? 2) If I need to replace the strings, what gauge should I use ? I haven't found anything for that short scale in the string ...

Sonny Jenkins

I want to give a shout out for Sonny Jenkins. I contacted him about an 8 string practice board tuned to c6 but with a string spacing to match the pedal steel I own. He responded right away, and I just got the finished product today. You can see it under the topic Practice Board?,,Lap Steel?,,Acousti...

Sonny,
I built a lap steel out of pine ( first attempt ). I wanted the wood grain to show thru, so I used leather dye to stain it. It did not raise the grain, but if you overlapped strokes with the applicator (read rag ), it showed. if I were to do it again, I think I would spray the dye.

The web site says the picks are pre - order, which means when she gets enough orders to help defray the costs , she will order them and ship them out. I'll bet if you order a bunch of them, she will order them quicker. I also have not had communication from Melissa since Feb 2. Hoping all is well wi...

I am surprised that no one mentioned Dewitt Scott's book Deluxe Pedal Steel Guitar Method. Is it a little too advanced ? Just for the record, I do dabble with the 6 string, but only know enough to hurt myself. I figured if it was assumed that I know nothing , the advice I get from you all would be g...

Could someone suggest a course or books for a beginner?

Assume that I have no musical background, am 70 years old, and will not be playing out.
Thanks in advance

I thought so too. I don't know much about steels, but I am mechanically inclined and after seeing pics of the underside, something didn't look quite right. That and the fact that there were 2 strings missing set off alarm bells, so I passed.
