Thanks Tommy. That clarifies things. I believe the one I'm checking out is a factory amp with the BW insignia broken off. I can see the screw holes in the picture.
What does the fox mod do to the sound? I'm new to steel amps!! Appreciate your help.

Peavey Nashville 400 amplifier has a black widow speaker but doesn't have the BW insegnia on the grill cloth at the bottom of the cabinet. Was this a later year and are certain vintages better than others? Thanks to anyone who can give me some help with research.

The Mullen steel I'm looking at is an early one 1985. serial # 0049 Private sale. What should I look for when inspecting it? Asking price is 2500(Canadian)or about 2000 U.S dollars

Who makes a good steel that's still in production (E9th single 10 or 12 with 3 pedals and 4 knees would be fine) that wouldn't have to be replaced in a few years and also wouldn't break the bank? Any ideas?
