Trouble with peavey nashville 1000

It will turn on, but no sound will come out. I have to turn the pre gain knob all the way up, and then sound comes out. I can turn t...

I have a quick question about how pitch lowers work for this pedal steel. I can see that when a string is raised, the rod is pulled back and the nylon nut attached to the rod pushes the finger in, raising the pitch of the string. How do lowers work? The rod is pushed the opposite direction but there...

RKL not working
Not sure what I did to cause this, but my RKL is not working correctly. I noticed that RKL (which is supposed to raise both strings 1 and 7 to G) was only raising string 7. The rod attached to string 1 is engaging, but it doesnt have enough pull to engage the finger of the changer. I tried tightenin...

I'm a week in and making some progress
Getting a little better every day. In my last post some people mentioned working on keeping my foot over the a and b pedals instead of moving it around so much so I tried to work on that. Gave this song by uncle tupelo a shot. Lloyd Maines is the steel player so I figured I'd get back to my hometown...

Got my first pedal steel and learned my first couple licks
I picked up my stage one on Thursday and Ive been goin at it for 3 days or so. Decided to try and learn this song called Whole Damn Town by Turnpike Troubadours. My pick blocking isn't too great yet, but it doesnt sound half bad. Here is a video of me playing the licks. Critiques welcome (and wanted...

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! Another forum member reached out to me via PM and offered to sell me a Stage One. Hes not too far from me and I should be picking it up sometime in the next week or two. Thanks again for all the help. I also ordered the stage one volume pedal from Doug. Are t...

It's roughly in the same ballpark as the Stage One, although a bit more expensive. You could, if willing to wait, order a new Stage One, and save enough to pay for the volume pedal. The GFI Student model isn't widely loved, but it is perfectly suitable, so long as you the 4 knee version. Alright. T...

Hey Guys, New member here. I've been looking to get into pedal steel for the past 2 months or so and have been scouring the classifieds and local craigslist with no luck. I am a college student and my budget is pretty small compared to what most of the instruments I've seen have been going for. Id p...
