Wow Terry must have just been out of kindergarten, lol.
When I was in Nashville for the Jeffran school Terry took me back stage of the opry. What a great time.

I had a student one time that just bought a guitar. We set up facing each other and I was going to show him the basic picking groups. I noticed he had his picks on upside down. I told him to turn them over and he said the guy at the music store told him that was how to wear finger picks and he said ...

When I meet Bob in the late 60's he could play Chalkers "Big Hits on Big Steel" almost note for note. I was impressed. Never did get to know him well.

Jerry Maranville

Jerry was from Matheson, CO and lived the last years of his life there. I met him when he was at Kansas State University. He changed my life. I first heard him play in 1964, Prior to that I did not know what a steel guitar was. He got me started on a MultiKord. Jerry had a Phd in agronomy and taught...

Donny, I thought they had many of those issues resolved after the Scotts got out of the mix. What they are playing now does not deserve the name steelradio.

steelradio

Does anyone have any insight as to why steelradio is not playing steel music anymore? Maybe I am not clicking on the right spots. I miss their earlier playlist. Now just get a lot of singing crap.

Although probably not the best but it does get me every time. That would be the steel break in "On Second Thought" by Eddie Rabbit. I do not know who played it but it is really catchy.

A number of years ago I bought a Mullen from someone in TX. When he shipped it to me is still had a Michigan address showing on the box and it whet back to that address. They of course shipped it back to TX they then reshipped it to me in KS. When I unpacked the guitar it was still in tune enough to...

Great old tune. Randy I was in St Louis the first time you played the convention. I remember talking with you after and you were so upset because you made a mistake. Who knew but you. I think you were eleven years old. I have been a fan since. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

Regardless of the brand you will not be sorry if you get one with a back. Although I do not use the back while playing it really helps to have it to lean on in between songs or periods when I do not play.

I have a cool story about Buddy. Back in about 03 I was in Nashville and went to see Smiley Robert's band. He had a fiddler by the name of Jimmy Unger playing with him. Jimmy is no longer with us unfortunately. He was a great picker and a very nice man. Jimmy told me that when he first started playi...

It is not what you make but how you manage what you have. Many famous entertainers lost what they achieved through spending beyond their means or through scandal. Looks like Buddy was doing fine. He had a roof over his head.
