Mickey, I submit my own name because I have a 6 string 2x2 Hudson and have learned enough to be frustrated for not having 10 strings. I am 71 years old, and Air Force Vietnam veteran 1966-1970 and am determined to get good enough to play the steel. I am constantly looking for a trade deal on the for...

GFI S10 3x4

Sure wish I had seen this 3 months ago. I purchased a Hudson 2x2 six string and have really enjoyed learning and playing. I have been at it 3 months now and am already wishing I had a 10 string 3x4. Someone will probably pick this beauty up from you. By remote chance, if you desire to retain a pedal...

Got the tab John. Thanks!!! It looks great and as soon as I upgrade to a 10 string with the additional pedals I can't wait to tackle the song.

John,

I feel so stupid!!!
I meant to say "Gary Carter" not Gary Hart. I have been looking at Gary Carter you tubes a lot. Please forgive the typo!!

Gary Carter in my opinion can express the highest level of "Emotion" on a steel than most anybody I have heard.

John, Thank you so much for answering my email. In the Garden is a top favorite of mine and especially played by Gary Hart. The man is so emotional and smooth on the steel it makes me want to cry. I will never make that this life time but I am enjoying the heck out of playing what I can. I really ap...

Sonny,,,,,by the way the dummy plug needs to be "open" no wires. This is to trick the switch in the amp plug port. Peavy told me if no signal is present when you insert a dummy plug the "Power Amp" in will be "fooled".

Re: Silent Practice

I have a NV 400 that I would like to run CD tracks AND PSG through and practice with headphones (silent). I bought a small mixer (Beringer XENYX 802) hoping I could hook it up to do that. However, the phone jack does not cancel out the audio from the amp ,,,,wanted it to put the audio into headphon...

Classic Country band in Baton Rouge La.

Tommy, It's good to see someone draw a line in the sand on "Classic Country". This music today,,,,,I don't know what it is. I wish I played the bass or lead guitar I would help out. I am a beginner steel player and far from being able to hit the gigs. Do you play the pedal steel? I have pl...

Larry, I will humble myself and risk posting this picture from 1962. I was in a band called "The Crowns". That's me on the left kneeling with the tenor sax. We played all rhythm and blues and rock and roll. Otis, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, etc. Great band and fabulous horn section!! My e...

Age limit for pedal steel

Hello Friends! I am brand new as of today to the Steel Guitar Forum. I am 70 years old and have had a passionate interest in the steel guitar for years. Should have done something long time ago. Well anyway I broke down and got a Hudson 2x1 to start out with. Taking some lessons from Troy Brenningme...
