Hey Aaron, Got a little pile of stuff to send you..I'll try to get it out this week,,includes photos of the reso from Beard's parts.. shots of my molds, bending set up etc step by step.. Id be glad to provide anyone who is seriously considering a first time build..with comments on my experiences..ph...

Do not know about other reso kits but built one using Beards....

Another source of cones is Tut Taylor..there is some confusion though (on my part),some of their cones are Quarterman and some are by someone who works with or did work with Quarterman,,??anyone know? Also I understand National may stop selling cones to competitors..only to National dealers and owne...

Is your bridge Maple and ebony tipped?
Bone Nut?
Quarterman cone?
Is your spider level? (mas importante)
What about the tension screw..

Sorry for the delayed response...having fun learning.. Couple pro players have played and commented on my rig...couple minor suggestions but very complimentary on the playability, tone and workmanship..not trying to be immodest..but this does not look like any homebilt...nor sound or play like one.....

Some time back I posted a few messages about buliding my own Dobro/Regal style squareneck reso. I finally finished it and strung it up tonight.. Made a couple minor adjustments couple more tomorrow and its complete. For those of you who want a quality reso but can't justify the expense of a quality ...

Squareneck construction update: Finished rebending the sides and repairing the splits (easy and not visible) Remacjined the neck and tail blocks and corrected their height (both too short by about 1 /16 th Finished building the internal expanding molds for the main internal mold/work board Will flat...

Here's an update on construction Progress: Today I decided it was time to bend the sides. They were not even close to the body contour. So water trough at hand..side bender heated up..mold ready..now!! what the h--- is that..on closerr inspection of the sides Ply) the inside of the waist of one side...

I like resos cause they're like bikes (motor) playable works of art..mechanical bits that can make music. So with the reso, I hope my logic was clear that I want to build the first one very stock in design but very clean..and then switch to tone woods..Solid top only first, then solid backs and side...

The other reason for the molds is: After I finish the kit (successfully I hope) I am going to make all the body parts from solid wood and this will require all the molds and equipment. Then I will swap all the hardware and see for myself if plywood and good tone wood truly make a difference given ex...

Though the sides are Pre-bent they are only reasonably close and in no way ready to be glued up. Paul states in his instructions that some spring back will occur. I phoned him about this and about using molds..he said it wouldn't be necessary if you are just building one and have the patience to fid...

I saw Master Of the Steel String a month ago.
Went specifically to see Wayne Henderson and
was totally blown away with Johnny Bellar.
This guys got chops. Dobro style and lap
steel. I'd pay the same ticket price just to
see him. Got a great CD from him at the show.
