Built this one nearly 40 years ago to see if I could learn the grips for ten string pedal steel, has a longer scale length 25" + and made from solid mahogany, has " a tone of it's own " and everlasting sustain. Downside is, it weighs a ton, wobbles a bit on its 4 legs, but I do the sa...

Got to agree with Jeff, green baize from evil bay, cut to shape first then wet on one side with P.V.A. glue and place it onto the bottom of the guitar, smoothed out and let dry. This is a seven string I made last year and it shows the end product, baize and P.V.A are both cheap to buy and very pract...

Below are pictures of the first steel guitar I owned, built by myself in order to see if I could handle ten strings before I went for a pedal steel. The idea was to learn to play it first then perhaps convert it to pedals. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/16567_image_10.jpg The guitar was ...

Rick Regards the sanding of the neck, possibly it was sand blasted along with the body during the re paint job? :whoa: An alternative suggestion is the neck was to silvery looking for the player, as I found my neck was hard on my eyes due to silver strings running horizontal with silver frets going ...

Larry I think Michael has summed up your first post question about availability of older consoles with a lot of useful information on the models made by the Rickenbacker factory. I submitted a post in January to find out how old my Rickenbacker consol was and received a good guess as to the age of a...

Thanks for your information Bob, but my Electro DW 16 seems to have been produced earlier than 1955 as according to Rickenbacker information on Google, the Electro company was sold in 1953. Could the last two numbers ( being 48 ) on the serial number have any meaning on the year of manufacture as 19...
