One more shot of the entire undercarriage would helpful to people. It’s hard to tell if the pulls are “permanent” - welded in place or if they can be moved.
It kind of looks like a Sho~Bud “2 over 2“changer to me but I’m no expert.

How long a wait for a Justice? It was maybe 3 months last time I checked. That is short by today’s standards.

2 more cents here…Pete’s B6 was almost like a Baritone guitar version of E9. Maybe a B9 tuning with heavier strings and E9 type changes could get you something like what you seek. You would just have to relearn left hand positions but not muscle memory for feet and knees. I have a GFI D10 with the b...

From what I can see it is a long scale Fender with roller nut and bridge. Earlier models had a solid bridge and nut. That feature plus color of the case puts it at 1962-3, just before they changed to shorter scale and a different changer and pickup. Pros - 1)unique sound. Most real Fender nuts like ...

This guitar is kind of messed up. It sat in a pawnshop and it needs restoration badly. It’s been set up to some tuning other than E9.

Date and signature on an MSA

A pal has a line on this lacquer maple body. Serial #1C5182. Year? I think I know the answer … but could this crude engraved signature possibly by any stretch be legit? It says “Lloyd Green”. Thanks for any info. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1589_IMG_7918_2.jpg https://bb.steelguitarf...

Before the advent of the Fishman system I used a disc type pickup made by Carl McIntire(stuck on the underside of the farthest rear leg of the spider using a particular type of black mastic made by 3M-the stuff DID make a difference) coupled with a Bill Lawrence soundhole acoustic pickup. I ran a st...

I generally hate using claws on my right hand-- . Yes, everybody does at first. Very few pedal steel players do not use fingerpicks. I don’t think Bobbe Seymour did but not too many others. It’s something you have to get used to. I did it by wearing them around the house, even when I wasn’t playing...

Yes, like so many when I first started playing 30 some years ago I used a compressor and it didn’t help my playing. The idea of adjusting the pick up on the bass end is a good one. More important though is just what they call “seat time”. Practice your picking dynamics with your right hand, muting w...

I used to play in a bluegrass band with a banjo player who at weddings would slip this in and somehow never got caught:
“I just want to say on behalf of the band congratulations to the couple and I sincerely hope that they’ll be as happy as my wife and I thought we’d be.“.

I broke a pedal on a Sho~Bud once traveling in a van in its factory case. Your case was probably not the issue as much as how the pedal board was placed. What seems ok in regular transport doesn’t apply for air travel. You need to have LOTS of internal padding and keep those pedals isolated from pos...

I’d try (low to hi):
DF#ADF#ADF#. It is a very vanilla major chord but a rich one and still useful. You want that “power chord”? Pinch 8,6,5.
String gauges something like 59,56,48,36,28w,20p,16p,13p

Your mileage may vary! I play both regular E9 and extended with low G#+E and have few problems adjusting. Some people just can’t get used to 12 but that number is small.

I have a neck selector switch, but having a separate output option could be useful to go to another channel, amp or DI.

I did this with my S-12 Bud. Haven’t gotten around to trying a bridge piezo yet but it’s in my plan. This old Teisco pickup is very microphonic and dobro-like already and running it through an EQ pedal or Fishman Aura isn’t bad in a loud electric stage environment so I might not bother. The Stringto...

I think Ry Cooder used D6(Bm7) on a few tunes, as have I. DADF#BD. Possibly it was E6 like Sol Hoopii. I have that option with a guitar I have outfitted with a Stringtone device. It gives me G,D&D6. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1589_IMG_1313_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/u...

I have a Honey Amber keyless extended E9 S12 on order and am tortured by the wait! I love Alumitones. They aren’t traditional humbuckers and to my ears they have great clarity and note separation. They need to be just a touch FARTHER from the strings than other pickups to get optimum effect, I think.

If it is to YOU then it is and I can’t argue. I have pretty good hearing and value tone and “soul” above all. When I first heard an Evans FET my “tube wall” began to crack. A few years ago when I got a Quilter that wall came tumbling down! That’s what works for me now. I know it’s different for othe...
