You crushed that thing man, good job. I'd play around with adding a little more vibrato on notes at the end of phrases - I like to draw inspiration from good singers that use vibrato. Some of my favorite Danny Boy recordings on YouTube are by Peter Hollens and BYU Vocal Point.

I have a Champion 20 I bought new at my local guitar store. It's perfect for a smaller practice room or to use at home, and it has headphone and aux jacks if you want to practice with 'em. It has on-board reverb+delay that is ok, and I think is better than nothing, but it's not the same as what you'...

It was also on the guitar I got just a few months ago that used to belong to Tommy White. I don't know if it was his change or if it was added somewhere in between. I'll be interested to see what other people think of it too; I definitely haven't heard many examples of it.

As a relatively recent beginner myself, I'd recommend some National picks and one of the powdered bars for sale on the forum. The national picks were a lot easier for me to fit to my fingers than the Dunlop were, and the powder coated bars seem like a really great value to me; they're miles better t...

Tom, I read a lot of the paper and it seems extremely useful for a beginner like me. Thanks for all of the time and effort you put into it, I can tell it took a lot.

The biggest difference is their feel. In 6/8 beats one and four are accented (like a waltz feel, sometimes even counted in two) while in 3/4 the accent is usually on beat one and it feels more like a measure of three than a measure of two "triplets" like 6/8.

Justice S10 3x4 - $1400

Selling my Justice 3x4 to help finance an upgrade to a D10! This guitar has a few marks that I tried to show as best I could in the pictures. Most are extremely hard to notice if you're not looking for them. Price is $1400 plus shipping. The guitar has an adjustable leg in the back and a George L E-...

Wow, thanks guys! There are a bunch of colleges on the list I never would have thought of, like SPC and South Plains. I will definitely be contacting some and laying out my options further. I don't exactly know what kind of college I'll be able to afford, as I haven't taken the ACT in quite a few ye...

Prospective Colleges

Do you guys have any advice on where I should focus my college search? Right now I've been looking at Middle Tennessee State in Mulfreesboro, about 30 minutes south of Nashville, but I assume there's other areas of the country with a lot of opportunities for steel guitar too. I'm especially looking ...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I never thought to search on the forum, and it's probably more reliable than asking around at music stores. My Experience with Steel Resolve

I got my steel guitar about two years ago (I was 15) from Dick Hitchcock, a really nice player from rural Nebraska that took great care of his guitar. Unfortunately, in my metropolitan area of about 1 million people and the state capitol I couldn't find a single pedal steel player, let alone teacher...

Although I'm not entirely certain my area was that conducive to live country bands, it seems somewhat difficult to find live bands playing around town, but it also seems difficult to find a place to look. However, I've found that my generation of high school musicians is getting much more involved i...

I would also get very familiar with the blues scale. In a school band you could get more than enough licks out of just the blues scale to keep a director happy, but that's if he wants you to come out of the texture a bit. I'm going to be trying this in the winter too, and I've been hitting the blues...
