I can see that this discussion of tablature VS sheet music fits in very nicely with Jordan's stated objective of, "What worked well? What didn't work well? Who participated? Why?"

Hi Grant, I installed the Duesenberg Multibender on a Gretsch about 2 months ago. Relatively painless process. There’s a fellow on YouTube who has a video demonstrating the installation (Duesy on Gretsch). It’s quite detailed. He’s speaking in German as he makes the installation. No CC auto-translat...

Hi Brian,

Denny Turner recommends using penetrating oil.

Here's a link to his amazingly detailed website. He has loads of information on working with Valco/Supro string through pickups.

Best of luck with this.

Hi Paul You asked if there is a 'chart or diagram somewhere'. Here's a website you might find useful. It's John Ely's Chord Locator for Steel Guitar. Basically you select your tuning, specify a key, and then select from a number of bar options, such as 'straight', 'forward' or 'reverse' slant. It wi...

In this video from 2015 Al Perkins explains and then demonstrates the use of a capo on lap steel. He's using a capo from Beard Guitars. Then he gives a short demo on a Magnatone. OMG can he play!

Hi Carl, Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe has a series on YouTube covering lap steel basics. Megan plays a Rickenbacker B6 in GBDGBD tuning. The B6 has a 22 ½ inch scale. While she claims not to be too picky about strings she has tried out a number different brands, eventually settling on Ernie Ball Peda...

Sale price today(Saturday) is $5... Given your repertoire I think this might be a good fit. https://truefire.com/essen...

Hi George, Here's a thread that has a picture, second one down, showing an example of staggered pole pieces on a B6... In this picture the slant descends across all 6 strings, gradually tapering to the lowest on the bass side. Rick Aiello contributes some thoughts regarding the whys and wherefores o...

I checked out the Patent references.

The ones I could make out referred to variable resistors and included drawings of potentiometers. The inventor was Erwin R Stoekle and the patents were assigned to CENTRAL RADIO LAB.

Most of these patents were applied for in the late 20s or early 30s.

Installed an Ebony bridge on my Rickenbacker B6

Over the winter I replaced the rosewood bridge on an old Harmony f-hole guitar with an ebony bridge from StewMac. I was really surprised with how much it enriched the sound. I thought I might try something similar on my Rickenbacker B6 (T-logo, 1946 to 49). This is the one with a single piece pickup...
