Great work again Dale , is there anything you can’t play on that E9 neck ;-) Seriously , you’re showing us again how do play those lovely runs , voicings and chords , guess that string 9 is earning its keep. I know you’re not into creating tabs but a book of these beautiful arrangements would ...

Thanks Tucker , I’ll get the soldering iron to work and hopefully like what I hear. Strangely my GFI has never sounded over bright with the E66 when used with the matchbox....watch this space...and stay safe.

Excellent in every way Dale , just shows how versatile the E9 can be in the hands of such a gifted performer. Is it too much to ask for the tab ;-)

Many thanks Bob for taking the time to respond to my post , I greatly appreciate your comments. I’m fascinated to know how the pickup will sound so I’ll give it a try. As I mentioned before the unusual impedance is still an unknown factor as to what tone it will produce.

Thanks Tucker , it’s just that 21.7 is an unusual impedance. I have a E66 on my GFI at present and thought about putting this on to hear the difference.

Many thanks for all your comments , my friend has now decided to take it to a Professional Luthier to have it all put back to its original state. I’ll post again when it’s all completed and I’ve had a chance to try her out.

Many thanks

Thanks Noah , that’s very helpful and I’m sure 18gns was a lot of money back then. He did mention the original pickup was faulty and replaced. Just wonder how much it’s worth in today’s bleak times. Thanks again for your reply.

What Lap Steel is this?

A friend of mine has cleared out his cupboard and came across this. He bought it secondhand in 1970 and just wanted to know more about it. Any ideas most welcome , at first I thought Hofner but the serial number doesn’t tie up and there’s no name. Here’s some pics... https://bb.steelguitarforum...

Jan Howard

That’s sad news , she was a lovely lady I had the honour to play Steel for on her U.K. tour. Jean Shepard, Skeeter Davis and Jeannie Seely were also with her , that means Jeannie is the only survivor now. I seem to remember Jan being the posh and quieter member of the team but she was very likeabl...

I may have missed something but on Greg’s excellent conversion should the P6 pedal show E to Eb instead of E to E.

In my opinion there is a Roland/Boss amp that is worth considering. I have a Roland Cube 80x , a Peavey Session 400 and have used a Katana 100 for the last year but now have a Roland Blues Cube Tour and Telonics 1x15 Cab which I use with GFI 12 String Pedal Steel and Gretsch guitars. Don’t be misl...

There weren’t many Steel Players about in the early sixties Joachim , I remember there was Gordon Huntley and Pete Wilsher and later there was B J Cole . There was Ken Lundgren from Canada who also played with The Outlaws. I did start writing a book but it’s a slow process , this should give you...
