I play my lap steel through a Rumble 75. I use a Rumble 200 head in another setup with single 15 cab with a EPS-15.

Jim, in regard to retrofitting an older Melbert lap steel with the new bridge...... Robert, I would very much be interested in trying this modification on mine. I am pretty close to you in relative terms. I visited once and you helped me with a couple issues I had. If you plan to make these availab...

Just a thought, if you try tuning with headphones instead of with your amp, you may be able to hear the beats easier. Room sounds make it more difficult to hear them. Even a ceiling fan running on low will affect the sound. Once you get used to hearing the note differences it will be much easier to ...

I have a Strobo Plus HD and find it to be an outstanding tuner. It is very stable and has a long battery life. It is especially valuable to me when I play with others, as it is often too noisy to tune by ear. Having said all that, when I am practicing, I more often than not tune by ear once the root...

I put some of the Lloyd Green strings from Jagwire on my Stage One and am quite happy with them. They sound fine, and seem to last longer than other brands.

If you are interested in trying a DAW,Reaper is a great one at a very reasonable price. It can be found here: http://www.reaper.fm/
It can use MP3 as well as .wav (and others). A Presonus audiobox can be found on Ebay pretty cheap and will get you in to your computer with a clean sound.

I know this is in the wrong area, but it seemed appropriate for this thread... A beautiful maiden is talking a stroll around the castle when she hears, "Hey! Down here!" Looking around, she sees a small frog down by the moat and picks it up. "Hi-I'm really a banjo player but an evil w...

I have heard very few expressive banjo players. For the most part, they seem to be stuck in the 85-87 bpm range. A pedal steel guitar in the right hands, can be one of the most expressive instruments. One more note, living about 100 miles from Nashville, I expected to find more steel players, and tr...

8 String Melbert

I have been playing one of his 8 string guitars for a couple years now. He lives fairly close to where I do. I went to his shop a few months ago for some parts help. It was a fine experience with out a doubt. I play it mostly at church with a few jams spread about here and there. I am sure you will ...

Speaker frequency response

It seems that most 15" speakers that folks like, have a peak in the response curve around 2-3k. Has anyone used a speaker that has a flatter response? If so, did you like the sound?

Glad to know I am not the only one that likes these old amps. I have been carrying this one around since about 1970 along with the blackface Bassman. The cab for the Bandmaster was stolen many years ago. My first amp was a Bassman in the mid 60s. I played bass in a western swing band in Oklahoma. (Y...

Blackface Bandmaster

I have a vintage Blackface Bandmaster I am thinking about putting in a Mather combo cab with 1 15" speaker. I have re-capped it, put new tubes in it and biased it, so it is ready to go. I am undecided on which speaker to select. Any thoughts on a good match for use with a PSG?
