Right hand technique question
I just got my psg, a Justice S10. I thought I had pretty good right hand technique from playing classical guitar & banjo, but I'm realizing that it doesn't transfer to psg :-o. Should you hold your knuckles strictly parallel to stings - fingers are perpendicular to strings? For guitar, the sweet...

If you like vintage echo, GC has been running a special on TC Alter Ego. It's a DSP, but tries to model the vintage tapes, can, BBD, etc. A bit too modulated for me. A couple of useful presets, like Roland Space (great just for chorus), Boss DM2, Brit copy of echoplex. One user downloadable patch. T...

IMHO, The best sounding solid state amps in production are the Tech 21. Not sure if they come in high watt flavors. In the quasi-vintage, check out the Yamaha 100W flavors from the late 70s, early 80s. The Gibson/Lab5 were nice SS amps, but maybe not so reliable. The Roland Jazz/Chorus are great gui...

A rule of thumb, perhaps one should say a heuristic to avoid the r-word, is by def not intended to be strictly accurate or reliable for every situation. The mod->preamp/OD->VP->delay/reverb grouping is typically what you will find on multi-fx pedals which do not allow programming the signal chain or...

Anybody get good results from putting a solid state rectifier and a bigger output transformer in a Deluxe Reverb? I suppose that's a thought as well. Probably bringing two amps would be simpler. I am building a Marshall 50W plexi clone with SS rectifier as a quasi-bassman amp. I looked at the Bassm...

I notice whether my amp is class A (5-6 watts) or class AB >10 watts, more than if compressor is first signal processing in chain. The class A sounds more compressed at lower volumes than the class AB. I also notice more whether rectifier is diodes or a tube than a pre-amp compressor. I'm finding ma...

Re: Good, Cheap Compressor?
I've been playing with a compressor to help smooth out what I do. It's just a cheap MXR two knob. Anyone else know of a good, CHEAP, colorless, compressor? Thanx. RP I wouldn't say MXR is cheap. I've been using a Boss CS-3 which I like because it has a tone control & you can pick them up for $5...

What the heck is a Johnson Custom?
Pardon me if this is the wrong forum to ask this question - i just joined PSF today. My question is about a Johnson Custom Steel for sale in my driving area. I cannot find any info on this brand except references to 'Mike Johnson' & he doesn't seem to have his own pedal steel model. It looks ver...
