I literally just started playing pedal steel, but can't see how guys can play without does on! It's way easier to press the A and B pedals at the same, release one while keeping the other down, etc. with shoes on. Cant do it just in my socks!

Beautiful. It's easy to see why you bought this instead of the Encore. Is this the guitar with the Day setup you asked about earlier? How many raises and lowers does it have? We could tell if you posted a picture of the endplate. This is a different setup than the one that had the Day setup that I ...

in lane's enthusiasm to share his knowledge with you, he forgot to mention that 'first of all' tune your string open to d#. second, tune the c# with the lever fully activated. then worry about figuring out the half stop d. That's pretty much what I was assuming the order was, but appreciate the cla...

Knee lever tuning question...

I have a Sho-Bud Pro III. I am 100% new to pedal steel. Just learned how to tune the guitar yesterday. My question is about the Right knee right lever. It's the only one that has two positions as far as I know, going from an open D# to a D in the first knee position, and then if pressed further to a...

It almost looks like all that was done was the guitar was put into a cardboard box. Even if this is what you've done for several guitars in the past, in my opinion it's only a matter of time before something happens. Should have been packed a little better. I've shipped quite a few guitars, both aco...

The Pro III I am hoping to take delivery on next week is a 1978. Wondering if they were good during that year, or were the earlier ones better? How long did they make them for?

Intersting. I'm a total noob at steel (play guitar and banjo) and just picked up a really nice, well-maintained Pro III. From what I've read some say it's an oddball in the Sho-Bud line, others love them. Mine should be here in a week, and as a beginner I don't know any better. I was told though tha...

Back in 1983 I had the Winston/Keith book well in advance of receiving my first steel. Time spent with the book prepared me to hit the ground running when the steel arrived. Just having a clue as to the common string grips and the use of the AB pedals to get from I>IV, V>I meant that I could get so...

You might try contacting Joe Goldmark in San Francisco. He might teach or know somebody who does. Did you get both the Sho-Bud and the Encore? No, I only got the Sho-Bud and cancelled the order for the Encore. I emailed Doug letting him know and apologized to him for taking up his time, but I hope ...

I actually have a brand new set of Eminence Red White & Blues that I was considering dropping into the Twin, but that was when I was going to use it for just a 6-string electric guitar amp. I may just hold off and keep the stock speakers in there. My main goal right now is to just practice my @$...

Are you instested in any delay or reverb pedals? Got that covered since I also play electric guitar. The Twin has great reverb on it and I also have a Holy Grail reverb pedal, and also have the delay covered with an old DD3 that I don't use much anymore since the Ibanez Echo Shifter replaced it on ...

Have a guitar, amp, volume pedal & tone bar...what else?

It's all falling into place. I originally pulled the trigger on a ZumSteel Encore, but there's a waiting list until July (well worth the wait though), but things change and the opportunity to pick up a wonderfully maintained '78 Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom with original Sho-Bud volume pedal presented its...

Speakers for a 1974 Fender Twin Reverb?

In a week or two I should receive my first pedal steel, and plan on playing it through an old 1974 Fender Twin I have. Just got the Twin out of the shop and got it tuned up and gone through, and the tech says it's an amazing sounding Twin. I scored it in a trade with the intent of using it for pedal...
