Re: Sightless steel players.............
There's a gentleman in the SPOKANE, Washington area that is blind and produced several CD's without the benefit of sight. A really great musician. For the life of me I can't recall his name at this moment however the last name of "Livingston" keeps jumping into my mind. Perhaps some of yo...

Mickey, Is this guitar still for sale? I've been looking for a SD10 for a good price. But, this is not that much more for only couple hundred dollars. I'm just a beginner, but I figure sooner or later I might want to learn C6. Thanks for your response, Steve Lafferty If this guitar isn't for sale do...

Pedal steel to learn on?
I am seeking some expert advice on a good guitar for me to start learning on as a day one beginner.
I been playing 6 string Tele and Strat for quite some time. But, I have always wanted to learn to play pedal steel.
I'm a real newbie.
Thanks so much in advance for all your suggestions.

Keyless
I play 6 string telecaster and strat lead guitar for about 20 years and I have been thinking of getting a 10 string single neck pedal steel to learn on and I am wondering what the advantages or disadvantages are of a keyless vs keyed?
Thank you so much for your help in advance,
Steve Lafferty

Is this guitar still for sale? If so, is it located in Nashville or what part of the country? Thank you so much in advance for your response. The only reason I am asking is that I am close to Nashville area and I might want to drive there and pick it up personally. I myself live in Southern Illinois...

which is easier
Im looking to get started learning to play PSG. Would it be easier to learn, as a beginner, on a 10 string E9 or a 12 string Universal? Reason I am asking is because I notice there doesn't seem to be as much material out there for Universal as there is for E9. Thanks so much for all your input, Steve

I don't see that being blind is detrimental to playing steel. Every steel player is playing blind on a darkened stage. The violin doesn't even have frets or fret markers. The musicians are looking at the music in front of them, and at the conductor. They're not looking at their fingerboards. I was ...

Is there anyone here who knows Neil Livingson? I use to play music with Neil many years ago and have lost touch with him and I think about Neil alot. He was such a great guy and great musician. He was without a doubt one of the best pedal steel players I ever worked with or heard play. Neil had a si...

David, I believe you are right. That is the conclusion I came to earlier after listening to all the good advice from everyone here. I am so glad I became a member of SGF. I will start checking out this forum, sales, to see what is out there since we have no PSG shops here in Las Vegas. Thank you so ...

Thank you all so much for all your great input. I think I agree with the idea that I probably wouldn't be happy not being able to pull off the true pedal sounds with a lap steel. I am going to keep my eye open for an S10 within my budget of $1500. And I even more agree that I need to find me a teach...

Wanting advice
I am new to this forum so I hope I posted this question in the right place. I have played music about 35 years for a living on the road and locally. I played bass guitar for years and 6 string in my own groups, but only rhythm, never any lead work to speak of.. Well, I am 66 years old now I have alw...
