Thanks for the excellent post Ben. Pretty much my sentiments. Other people that will hear the amp ,(band members, audience, sound techs)might not appreciate the difference, but I tend to get inspired and therefor play better when I am getting a good sound!

I'm not looking at buying a new one at full price.I know where there is a used one at a good price. As far as an appreciable audible difference, I don't know, but amp techs seem to like the serviceability advantage. I just missed out on a used 73 Deluxe reverb that was for sale locally. I have coupl...

Thanks Ken, I checked the Tone Master Deluxe out online and am very interested. I like all the extras it has like the lower wattage choices. Really light weight a big plus too. Yes Anthony, that's the official name. 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb. It's seems to be that Fender is making a lot of reissues now...

The recent Fender Deluxe Reverb / Hand wired / anyone tried?

I have been looking for a late sixties or early seventies silverface Deluxe Reverb and noticed the new handwired versions are getting glowing reviews. It sounds like Fender is really trying hard to stick to the original with pine cabs and hand wired boards. I have my eye on a used one for sale a coup...

Nice Demo of Encore but....

I saw this on youtube today. Really nice sound and playing. Left handed and strung the other way.I would not say it's backwards because it works for him!
Does anybody else play this way?

Nice! I really don't mind if the end plates and pedals are not polished which adds a lot to the cost. Doug suggested his new Hammered metal finish and I love it! Best bang for the buck I have found! https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/14538_IMG_2017_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/user...

I agree completely Karen. I have had mine since March of this year. The more I play it,the more I like it! I have another great Pedal Steel, but spend most of the time on the Encore.

I emailed Doug in January this year and he told be he would put me in line and let me know when he would start on my Encore build. I think it was early March when he started and I had it by mid March. His communication was excellent. He is always a little backed up but actually was able to start min...

My favorite right now is the Earthquaker Avalanche Run.
It has tap tempo/ expression pedal input /and a real nice reverb. It has a lot of options like reverse and swell delays for more ambient new age sounds.

Good point on the price range issue. For me, I decided on the Encore because I needed another guitar I could rely on to grab and go,have it made the way I needed with the Day setup that comes in well below 2K.I also had Doug install a 4th Franklin pedal. I emailed Doug in January to start the build ...

Ditto on the needle nose plier with a cutter. I am a piano tech and have a all the expensive cutting tools for music wire but prefer the needle nose when restringing pianos and guitars. You can grab, guide and cut with it in tight spaces. I think I am still using a cheap pair from Harbor Freight for...

Cut tail, fat back, wrap around... would anyone be kind enough to explain these? Pics would be nice.
Not all necks are bolted on?

Thanks in advance!

I have the Katana 100 Head and use the Acoustic setting. I highly recommend tweaking the effects with the included software. It took me a while to sort all the options out with the software but it is well worth the time investment.I also like the optional foot pedal for storing and recalling saved pr...

MSA S-10 / Classic SS II $1050 / sale pending

This was my first PSG, but just took delivery of an Encore that is setup like my Mullen in the Day style. 3 and 4 pedals and knee levers with E's on the right. Emmons floor pedal setup. Very good mechanical shape with a recent detailing, lube and strings. A few bar dings on the players side and chro...

I love my 68 Fender bassman thru a Tommy Huff cab using a jbl 130. I have not got my Session 400 back from my keyboard player who is using it in practice, but it's a great solid state reliable amp and I get to hear it all the time!

Franklin Pedal useage

I am currently close in line for my Encore build and am considering having Doug install a Franklin Pedal. To the players that have them or have played a steel with one, do you think it's a good option to add? I am not a very advanced player but love the instrument and voicing possibilities and of co...

I have the 100 watt head and have really been digging the sounds and features. The delay and all the effects and presets can be edited with the Boss Katana tone studio software quite easily. The optional footswitch is well worth it to be able to recall saved presets. I had a few learning curve hurdl...
