Yamaha DTX

I bought a Yamaha DTX 500 series a few years back that I've been very happy with. It records nicely (using a Fostex 8-track) and doesn't come across sounding "artificial". The heads are sensitive to pressure, so you can nuance the beat. For a kit under $1K, it works nicely. I also like the...

How do you unplug a banjo? The One Who Must Be Obe...., I mean, my wife, prefers my attempts at playing the steel guitar sans amp. And since every banjo I've ever heard seems to have a busted volume control, set at "painful", I don't think she would allo...., I mean, appreciate a banjo. I ...

Try to see the good in his posts. He is trying to help. He has asked that some of you "experts" readjust his information if need be. When it comes down to it, none of us are experts, but some "think" they are by seniority. Let's not discourage anyone, but rather encourage. Thank...

Thomas, I see that you are in the United Kingdom. There are some expert players from the UK that frequent this forum, so perhaps one of them will see your request and chime in. I have no idea myself, but would suggest the possibility that one or both guitars may be of English manufacture?

Thanks for the offer Steve, and thanks for the ID Lynn. I was scratching my head since I couldn't find much under my MSA that resembled those parts! And FYI, I am still in need of the RKR lever and connecting bolt, nut and washer. I've received all of the other needed parts from a forum member via t...

Roger,
Thanks, good looking out! That might explain my missing eyebrows. I wondered what that flash of light was that I saw while lubing the changer by candle-light.
I'm just glad I didn't swallow any of it.
I only tasted it. Tasted even better than Break Free. Smells nicer too.

Substitute for Tri-Flow?

I wasn't able to find any Tri-Flow available in Leavenworth, Kansas. So I went out on a limb and tried a substitute dry-lube, teflon-based gun oil - Remington Rem- Drilube http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1403/14169_61209310_1.jpg So far, it seems to be working fine. And I like the fact that th...

Reading through the numerous threads, it looks like the majority of folks prefer the dry lube, Tri-Flow. I'll give it a try (right after I clean off all of the Singer sewing machine oil I lubed it with already! :D) Thank you Lane.

Another newbie question, expanding the original a bit (hopefully, this isn't in bad form?) I completed disassembling and cleaning of my E9 changer, and have been reading the numerous threads concerning lubrication. My question is have any of you experienced a break-down on nylon/plastic parts from p...

Thanks!

Thank you all so much for the overwhelming assistance! Too cool. After much consideration, I decided to go with the Stage One. Exchanged a couple of emails with Doug Earnest (friendly guy!) who says he should have one ready to go next week. As for the amp, I'm using an old Peavey Deuce vacuum tube s...

Old Caps

This may be common knowledge already, but I'll throw it out, for what its worth. The old foil-lined cardboard tube, oil-filled, beeswax coated caps had a standard shelf-life of about 8 years. There are always exceptions, but generally speaking, any NOS or pulled caps of this design is most likely wo...

Preferred Volume Pedal?

Hello Everyone, I'm Bob, a ground-level newbie to the PSG world. I've been following the forum for several months prior to purchasing my first PSG. After reading the general consensus concerning what path to follow, I began my search. I picked up a 1980 MSA Classic (D10) in reasonably good condition...
