Looking for a teacher
Hi, I’ve been playing c6 steel for 3 or 4 years now and think I’m finally ready to have some instruction. Skype works fine for me. I’ve talked to the steel players in town and nothing works in my schedule. I like the late 40s early 50s steel in country music. Not too interested in the Western ...

Fender champ student lap steel for sale
This is a great little lap steel from the mid 50s I believe. I’ve had it for around three years but I recently got another steel with legs and this one just lays around. It’s in pretty good condition and everything is original. Both volume and tone work great and the pickup has that classic fend...

looking to buy: fender volume/tone pedal
I would like to try out the fender vol/tone pedal. I think the vintage one made in the usa with both the 1/4" jacks on the right side of the pedal. I can fix or replace parts if it doesn't work right, and I'm not looking to spend over about 110 dollars. Thanks! lane

need help with speaker selection
I am building a fender vibro champ clone but I am very overwhelmed by how many speaker choices there are out there. When I search the topic for replacement speakers it's always just guitarists that chime in. Anybody have any suggestions from a steel point of view? The only real idea I had was to mov...

Hey joe pretty much features steel all the way through the song and that lick gets stuck in my head all the time! Always late's into lick has gotta be the most recognizable non pedal licks there is, right? Maybe the intro to steel guitar rag when leon recorded it with bob wills is more recognizable....

I have some other pedals that I was working on trying to get to work, so I didn't put hardly any time into this one. The most I did was open it up, clean it out a little and turn it on. When I turned it on I could hear the motor start to turn in the can. The light didn't turn on (the on/off indicato...

Know anything about gemtone guitars?
A guy down the road from me has been trying to sell a gemtone lap steel for a while now. I can't find anything about them on the Internet. Think they are good guitars for that price?

MORELY vintage volume pedal - $50
This is a Morely vol. pedal from the 70's. This pedal doesn't use potentiometers, it uses light dependent resistors (ldr's). This means that another 40 years down the road this pedal will still sound great and there will never be any tone loss. Both input and output jacks are on the right hand side ...

Here is the schematic and a look at how the layout will be from the top of the pedal. The pedal controls the volume and tone by the foot pedal pulling a string that rotates a dual gang pot. This pot only controls led brightness in the vactrols (opto-isolator). This pedal has a lead volume swell cont...

If you take one lead of an LDR and hook it to your signal going to the output jack and put a cap on the other lead and connect that to ground that should mimic a pot tone control. In order to make this function work you'd have to have another switch that would disable the vol. control while you are ...

I've thought about adding a tone function in the pedal with another foot switch but for now I'm going to nail down this lead/rhythm pedal. I haven't seen it but I'm sure you can use the LDR's for a tone control instead of your standard pot. I have both jacks on the right and the rhythm vol. control ...

volume pedal build, whatdaya think?
I am currently building a volume pedal and I'd like to get peoples input on things I should add or subtract etc. This pedal is run on led's and light dependent resistors (ldr's) so that there is no tone loss when turning the vol. down. The other main function of this pedal is a foot switch so that I...

band to check out in pdx.
I don't know what type of music you are trying to play but there is a great band from portland called the caleb klauder band (http://calebklauder.com/). I believe they sometimes have non-pedal and sometimes have pedal steel. Either way, they would be a good resource for who to get lessons from and i...

anybody seen something like this?
Has anybody seen a list of all jb tracks that he's recorded on? I'm most interested in anything before mid 50's where he is backing up a hillbilly/country/western artist? I love the way he plays and I'd really like to listen to more of his stuff so I can pick up some licks and ideas for backing up s...
