Hello Bob The bridge I described came from the factory with that setup. I have not been able to find another one like it. If it wears out I guess I'll have make one.

I play a Jerry Douglas that has ebony on the wound strings and maple on the unwound strings. The maple seems to cut the harshness from the unwound stings and the ebony gives a big kick to the wound stings. The lower strings seem to sound espically nice. The maple insert is just on the two top strings.

By all means get a scheerhorn steel or a Tipton steel. The wide radius makes vibrato a cinch. The stainless steel version of the Scheerhorn steel is really cool. One of the drawbacks of the Scheerhorn steels is that you can,t see the fret you are trying to play on. But we all play by ear anyways. Ri...

Sometimes guitars have rattles in them if they have not been played recently. I would play the guitar for about a half hour or so before trying to get rid of the buzz. Exposure to cold temperatures makes this problem alot worse. Trying to get rid of the problem too soon creates a trouble shooting co...

You might also check out the nut material and the setup on the bridge inserts. Bone or ivory on the nut and ebony topped bridge inserts make alot of difference. Good picking to you.

You should check out the scale length against the fret spacing. The measurement from the nut to the 12th fret should equal the measurement from the 12th fret to the bridge. If they are not equal the higher up the neck you go the worse the intonation gets.

Hi Bill. When you bought the capo it came with plastic shims that attach to the bottom of the piece that the stings sit on. You use these shims to make that piece the same dimension as your string height. Try not to push the strings up. It should just slide under the strings and ideally be touching ...

Hello Ted. I would say that you should charge these people for the option of cramming a job on a guitar. The quality would most likely suffer but then you get what you pay for. I would only hope you would leave the option open for someone willing to give the you the time to build a guitar as it shou...

Moroton guitars

I went to the Loud and Clear display in Sacramento and I saw a guitar under glass that interested me.It was made by John Morton. It was a Weisinborn style body made out of metal and had a tri-cone set-up.Has anyone out there played one of these? How does it sound? Anybody know how to get in contact ...

The guitar in question is a cheap Korean knock-off. If you are serious buy a better guitar. If you are just checking out the posibilty of playing a resonator guitar it will do. The tone is somewhat lacking.

What you play for back up depends on what kind of song ie fast or slow and what is going on in the rest of the band. In a bluegrass context if the mandolin is taking as break it's nice to play chops like a mandolin. You can use your fingers to do this.I prefer to do it with my thumbpick and letting ...

Gordan you might want to listen to Rueben's Train on Rob Ickes album,Hard Times. It's in D played out of standard G tuning.Check out the D scale on the low end of the neck. All of the open stings fit in the scale making possible alot of different rolls. Being able to include the F# on the 4th fret o...

those slants on adjacent strings will work. some vibrato helps. if by digging in you mean pushing down on the steel harder, it will just complicate matters. by the way most of the takes on dobro sessions are played on guitars tuned to g. gbdgbd from the low end to the top. keep on picking dobro .it'...
