I'll never forget what he brought to country music especially as a Wagonmaster. He was unique, gifted, and a true showman. Really, there is no one like him. Porter knew it and that was part of his genius too. RIP Buck !!

Question re this PSG close??

Please click the link below for a karaoke version of Ray Price's recording of "The Same Old Me". What would are the fret, string(s), and pedals, knee levers combinations used in the closing around the 2:36 mark for the Jimmy Day e-9 set up? Thanks so much for any help. https://www.youtube....

What a great, commanding voice and sadly one of the last of the stars of the 1960’s.

This is fun stuff. It's Pete Drake and bet the ranch. In addition to the songs posted for this topic like "That Kind of Girl" and "Keeping Up With The Joneses" that have Pete all over them, please listen to the intros and fills on the two songs I attached below...... Billy Walker...

Jay McDonald ???

The great Pedal Steeler for Buck Owens in 1963 and part of 1964. Is he still with us? The last I heard he was living near Mariposa. CA.

Who is drummer with the 'stache on Tru Country Show?

He wears a white hat and a dark Nudie type jacket. He's really good and engaged. Thanks.

Pedal steel in the recording studio

I wonder who has the final say for the different types of intros, fills, breaks and closings. Is there a lot of improvising in the takes?

Anyone have any knowledge about Boots Till

I’ve been listening to her songs on YouTube released in the 1960’s like Two Lonely People. Fabulous voice and steel.

Congratulations sir !! Johnny Bush's take on what is required to play this beast of a musical instrument is the truth. It probably made perfect sense to Buddy Emmons.

This is a historic piece of literature likely not to be found anywhere else. The Fender 1000 is the gold standard for the West Coast Sound, in my opinion. How I and many other would you have loved to sit down with Jay McDonald, Brumley and Mooney over a beer or two and discuss the recordings they pl...

Steeler on GJones and Melba M Duets?

Was it Jimmy Day in their early United Artists releases , then Sonny Curtis when he joined The Jones Boys in’64 and when George and Melba moved to the Musicor label around ‘66? Thanks for any input?

Was there some jealousy involved because Tompall seemed to be the lead vocalist and the spokesman most of the time, maybe inadvertently outshining the other two ?

Tompall and the Glaser Bros

For my money, they eye the best three part harmony in any form of music. Why they are not inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame is a travesty. Did they piss off some people?
