E9 scale/chord matrix

Howdy Folks - first post here - sharing a work-in-progress map of a few positions on the E9 pedal steel and how I think of them. Let me know if you have thoughts, I may have made mistakes here (probable), or if you have any insight into cool ways to think about the fretboard - horizontally and verti...

I'm tring to imagine a verison that slides up from the first note (the tonic here) up into the outline of the chord, to read like the bow crossing in the original.

Hey Thanks Guy! I'm not so concerned about software really, I would really like to just start a thread about how we as steel players can interpret these notes from Bach. I'll get a hold on MuseScore (which is what I used to generate that) or just use pen and paper, if that is better..... What i'm re...

Here's a quick crack at the first bar, two ways : Nota Bene, I'm using a software I just downloaded today so the music notation for the pedal steel is using the accidendals from G major, and I haven't figured out how to notate pedals yet, so those 6th and 2nd fret notations on the tab are the A and ...

BACHhannle Party

Howdy Fellow Travelers: Tristan here, I am an E9 pedal steel player from Brooklyn. I'm working on some transcriptions of Bach's cello suites, starting from the top with the prelude from BWV 1007. I plan on working on a few bars a day and posting alternative ways of playing the same parts in differen...

Greg, Richard, Tucker thank you for all the suggestions- Of course, the simplest solution, and the one I didn't try first... This was a weird one - had a tiny bit of corrosion in the fingers - a little deoxit (not oil) and some knee lever movement and the pedal is returning basically within a few ce...

Thanks much Tucker - I spent a little too much time with a flashlight in my teeth underneath the undercarriage with a set of allan wrenches tinkering and did not think to isolate the movement of the changer itself. Was getting hangry and now have shifted gears into making some baked mac and cheese. ...

Pull-Release E-Lower Woes {Simmons E9}

Howdy Everyone! I've got a Simmons Pedal Steel that Bob built for me in 2014 - it's a S10 3/4 and has been playing wonderfully for the last 4 years - I play a bit of experimental music so I'm very picky about the tuning, and I must say, though limiting in terms of copedents pull-release guitars have...
