Toledo Ohio steeler

I'm in Toledo, been playing since the late 70s. Still no good, lol! I have been taking lessons from Paul Franklin and play/record in various bands around the Toledo area. My main band is Locoweed, playing California Country from the 1970s. We are still all original (almost) members since 1978...

I bought a Katana 100 from Steel Guitars of Nashville about a year ago and find the speaker works well. On one occasion I had it turned up fairly loud and noticed some distortion coming from it when I gave the volume pedal the gas....solution for me was to just turn down a bit. I have thought about ...

I upgraded from my Fender 400 to a S10 Emmons in 2000 and it has the Day setup. I like it, but my D10 bought in 2013 was standard Emmons and I like it better at this stage.

I've had the extreme pleasure of backing up Marty Haggard at a local county fair in 2015 and 2017. I believe he tours alone and uses whatever local musicians the promoter can put together. We received a song list and keys and went from there. He's a great guy and a lot of fun to work with. We played...

This is how I got started. In 1976 My brother and his room mate were in college and had a little acoustic combo with a bass player. I wanted in, but my brother told me too many guitars, but if you learn how to play this, we can add you! "This" was a short-scale D8 Fender Stringmaster, stra...

I found my Emmons D10 here and have had just about every question answered. I always go to 'search' first ...

Not sure what album I first bought had steel - good possibility it was Led Zeppelin III, Tangerine. I do recall hearing those radio station callouts that were done with an Alvino Rey type 'talking' device and a steel guitar....like on the little tracks between songs on the Who's album "Sell Out...

earplugs and my Twin Reverb will put those volume happy guitarists in their place..... It's clean and LOUDER! In reality, I just try and get the boys to understand that we're getting louder and usually they listen!.... you definitely don't want tinnitus!

When I was in Nashville last September to see the Time Jumpers, our time spent on Broadway was good only for drinking booze. I saw absolutely ZERO PSG in the bars and no fiddles either. Bands were playing a mix of new country (which has no PSG) and blues like ZZTop and Skynyrd. Doesn't mean they're ...

I recently played in a top 40 country band that would add me on PSG and a fiddle at large shows, which would bring the count to 8. I quit that group after I found out that neither the fiddle nor I were in the mix - we were just eye candy! lol! I did play at church once where we had a horn section an...

I'm probably not qualified to comment as I've owned only Emmons P/P's since 2000 and Fender 400s before that, but the tone of my D10 is just fabulous to my ears and it matters not what amp I play it through. Beautiful, crystalline tone. And it does fight back a bit!

I started playing on a D-8 Stringmaster in 1976, that guitar was my brother's. I recall is was not the long scale version, off white. I then bought two sunburst Fender 400s, one disassembled. I played the other one until 2000. I still have both. Not sure of the year. In 2000, I bought a black 1982 S...

I did for a couple years with a top 40 country band and I found the experience not satisfactory. I used Shure ear buds, not sure of the model #, but they were $100 at Gtr Ctr. $40/month? I think it's a bargain at that price. It'll be totally up to me to make it work, and that's where some of the hesitation comes from because I know my shoddy practice habits, but I'm going to try.... I NEED to try!
