I am very proud and happy for Ilse that she came that far! But very sorry that show and sexual statement wins from music. ............ It never was about the music, these shows never are. Shows like this are about attracting more viewership from other shows. The more controversial, the more people ...

Well they were just pipped into 2nd place. But it took a Drag queen with a beard singing a song like a Bond Theme to do it.

ooph my brain hurts, I admire you guys that can get your head round the maths of this. And I am proud that none of you have mentioned that dreaded A=440 is the work of the devil, and we should all go back to A=432 so that all music will become in harmony with the universe due to the fact that notes ...

The equal temperament problem was tackled by the company below a few years if you buy into this system, as adopted by Steve Vai (who else :whoa: ) and others,
it produces wiggly frets.

Hi Doug no it is not a Humbucker, it is an active SA EMG single coil like those in the DG strat set, inside a Humbaucker sized casing. He is almost certainly using an EMG SPC as well.

Interesting.... 65 views not a single comment, so I presume everybody is underwhelmed, or does not rate Mr Gilmour or the song, or is disinterested in David Gilmours' home studio, or all of the above, folks in the Pink Floyd/David Gilmour fandom are really excited about this, as we are all desperate...

Yup I've come to realise that, but at present I'm having enough trouble blundering around on 6 strings never mind adding another 2, in any tuning. But if I stay with the instrument I see where it must lead.

Here is Mr Cunningham's For The Love Of God.
If ever a Vai track was made for lap steel this is it, the lap simulates Steves Sustainer pick up perfectly, along with the very hot DiMarzio and Eric Johnson pups in the Lapsteel.
Awesome

This is great, and If I ever need to show anybody where Leo Fender was going when he invented the Stratocaster and the sound he was trying to emulate and why he slanted that pickup, this is where I will link them, because that was my overwhelming thought when I heard this, I understood. There parts ...

When I started lap steel nearly a year ago, I was dragged kicking and screaming to C6th tuning, in the best possible sense from all the good advice I received here, because that was where all the learning material is. There is no doubt it has a distinctive sound, and one the general listener will im...

I'm using a very soft overdrive made by a friend, based on an MXR distortion + with a different tone stack. But I used a Wampler Euphoria a couple of days ago, very impressed and very Dumble-ish. I just look for a bit of hair on the tone.

Off the wall, but I have found that Archery recurve bow cases, preferebly the hard abs type, and tactical rifle cases are a good size for lap steel, Wallmart sell them and they can take legs, volume pedal etc. Some are thin waxy platic which is not good. Some even come with wheels. You might have to...

That's a very clean example of a late 50's Champ... I'd expect you could command $650 for it, with case. You won't get much more... its big brother goes for around $1000, and it's got two pickups, 8 strings, and three legs. Two necks, $1200... three necks, $1500... more, in clean condition. Don't f...

That is really great. But special mention to the customisation of the old Guyatone. It would be really interesting to hear it with an electric mistress or the like or some of the latest pedals from Electro harmonix, Pigtronix, maybe the Eventide space or strymon timeline ice patch.

Very interesting discussion. In an ideal world I would love to see these guitars remain intact. It worries me that some of these parts will be involved in vintage counterfeiting too. The Stratosphere on Ebay have approaching 217000 sales, parting out mostly modern instruments. So there is a huge mar...
