I've thought for a long time, that the reason for the dinosaur; was that The Sneaky was a WIZARD of a high spiritual otder. How can one explain the steel guitar music that would play thru my head after seeing the Burritos. Maybe I saw the original band about a dozen times, most with Ethridge on bass...

I use all George cable except the cable coming out of my guitar. Which is a Zaolla Silerline to a Peavy Valverb, of which is used as a booster/buffer to get my sound thru my pot pedal. Its a richer sound than having all GL's. They are quite expensive but when I bought it about 20 years ago, it was a...

Q

There is a free app that I really like. It's called Pitchlab Lite. There are a few different screens but the good one is called "dial and strobe". It has the needle dial with cents and also a strobe. In options, you can create custom temperaments and set them. To go to options, you just pr...

Had a similar problem last week. Decided to rewire my pickup to the jack connections on my old Fender. Bipassing the old volume and tone controls and using some silver wire I had, that always gave me the brightest tone in whatever use I used. Worked good at first and then I turrned the steel on end ...

If you can, test drive the Strymon Blue Sky. One of the features is the pre delay control in which you can dial in a fat delay but still keep your pick attack. You have to decide if it's worth the 3 bills.

Previously I had 250 pot and I thought the swell from 0 to 60 (an expression) was faster than in the 500 uf pot. Not sure if I'm correct in this assessment. It was a cool sound but not the one I want to use the most. The pots I've been buying were pots bought at the loacal guitar store. Not sure how...

I just re-adjusted my Goodrich to allow some minimum volume when floored off. It was quite easy, all I had to do was loosen the string that's attached to the bracket, tighten the string a little to the volume spot I wanted without unwinding anything else, retighten the screw and was done. I like it ...

Saw the Dead and Company with John Mayer this last New Year's Eve and the night before at the Forum in L.A. John Meyer did Jerry's parts. He was very good but not the transendental Jerry at his finest. New Year, a 30' long joint flew thru the Forum and Bill Walton was Father Time. Not enough of the ...

I don't know how most steelers do it, but I like to have as my starting point of play, just a little bit on. So as I play I never go completely off , most of the time. I also like to silent tune and hit the string somewhat hard. So when it is all the way down it is completely off. I was almost going...

In my experience as a long time beginner on the steel git-tar (since 1969). I also will lose much of my good tone thru my Goodrich pedal (an older one with the psychedelic space tape). What's affecting the sound is the series of jacks along with the pot. But I put a booster before the pedal, some wo...

Not a thumb pick, but the Herco nylon flat pick has the best sound of any pick ever (I use to swear by a DeAndrea Nylon smooth nylon that they don't make anymore). They are distributed by (or made?) by Dunlop now. They have a classic nylon .66 mm but that's not what I'm talking about. They come in 2...

The magnet weight of the Hempdog is 80oz. WOW. Total weight is 16.3 PDS. That's a heavy dog. My second thoughts on this speaker or the Canisbis Rex, it might just muddy up what I have. I'm not interested in the low end but making my high and mids richer.

Tony, I play an old (dare I say vintage) long scale Fender 400. I also prefer the "bright Fender amp tone", and once replaced a 12" Black Widow with the Fender Special Design speaker because I just preferred the brighter tone. The amp I use is a SS Fender FM212R, basicly it resembles ...

I got my amp back after an absence, and it turns out the loop does work but is too noisy to use. Plus the amp is not as good as I remember, so I didn't even try cleaning the jacks. There was a reason why I started using my solid state Fender 100w (2x12) instead. What I did benefit from, is take the ...

Narrow spacing is meant for meant for narrow minds.....just kidding. I use a Herco heavy guage nylon flat pick filed down some on the rough side. Thanks again Laine. I created a new tuning on the Pitchlab Pro. Only it does not let you adjust the A. That I have to read the cents, not a problem. It sounds great. It has a depth I never had before. I can even try to improve on it with my ears, if I can.

Peter, I changed my mind about the Pitchlab Pro, the strobe screen is easy to read and very accurate to dial in. It also has the Young temperament. I also entered in the Newman settings. The difference to my ears was noticeable. The Young temperament was sweeter than the Newman. No transposing to E9...
