I use RKL. The old Sho-Bud configuration on my Carter U12.
And the reason is because if I need p5 and p7, the right foot can come into play without too much movement.

I have an old P/P Emmons S10 and I have both E changes on the left leg. But my U12 has one E change on LKL and the other is on RLK. I placed it there for when in B6th I can play p5 and p7 together. The E changes on either leg didn't take long to get used to because I owned a Sho Bud many years ago a...

This is similar to the parent chords for the guitar that Pat Martino mapped out. Lower one string of a Dim chord at a time and a different Dom chord is available. Raise one string at a time and a min7b5 is the chord. He took it further by using an aug triad, lower each note and a maj chord. Raise ea...

A 13th shell chord is 9 6 5 with A pedal.
Spelt out it is 7th 3rd and 13th. That's all you need.

I have a uni 12 string, E9/B6. And I was astounded at how easy the 6th tuning is when it's tuned to B. All the chords are in the same position as E9th. The scales are the same too for the most part with one of two exceptions. Imagine playing E9 scales without using pedals or levers, just pencilling ...

That guitar is a Pro III. I had one in the 70's.
With the Pro 3 the top of the apron/body joint is square.
The Pro2 has a radius.
I think I bought mine in 76 or 77. It was pre pot metal.
It was fitted with tapped pickups and 2x small switches just above the bottom of the end plate on the E9th side.

True but by notching the rivet you can use the original rod and have a more snug fit with rivet. But to each his own.

Dogbone.

Working on my guitar I lost a dogbone. So as a repair I've expanded on a repair seen previously to replace it and it is a very simple solution. I used a pop rivet and with a Dremel and cutting disc. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1316_20221013_071735_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.co...

If you play strings 5,6,8,9 with the 9th string lowered to C# and the 8th string raised to F, this will be at the open fret a C#7 in a root inversion. So the notes are C#,F, G#, and B. Or 1, 3, 5, 7. Now if you release the lever on the 9th string so the note is raised to D, you will get a Diminished...

Question on splits.

Just looking a pics of guitars with splits, it looks like the tuning screw adjusts against the top section of the finger. Anyone confirm this?
I'm wondering if, given the right measurements it might be possible to drill and tap holes to install on a non split guitar. I own a Carter12. Cheers.

Adding KL to U12

I want to add a KL over the 5 and 6 pedals on my U12.
It already has the B to A# change, so what would be the next most important change to have?
Cheers.
