Jef Newman material

Hi William I bought just about all Jeff's tuition material over the years. To me, the 'Up from the Top' series is essential. The F lever course in particular is in my opinion a work of genius. Also, if you can find his 'Woodshed Workshop' videos (there were about 9 produced) then these are also inva...

The 16th year of the show and it was as enjoyable as ever. However, the impending storm meant that many had to leave earlier than planned.

Irish Steel Guitar Festival

Another enjoyable show last weekend. The 14th year.

I only managed to catch the Saturday sessions but was most impressed with Mickey Adams - visiting from the USA.

Joe Wright was his usual excellent self.

Yes, it was a good show.

The concert room seemed to be full whenever I looked.

Jay Dee certaily proved to be good value - especially playing with the bar band in the evening.

Irish Steel Guitar Festival

This was held last weekend in Dublin. After getting caught up in the crowds headed to Lansdowne Road for the Ireland v Germany soccer match on the Friday evening, we eventually managed to find the Green Isle hotel on the outskirts of Dublin. Once again, the festival was most ejoyable with Terry Cris...

I have listened to this CD over and over.

If that isn't Elvis Presley singing on the track 'For a little while' then its the nearest you will ever get!

Yes, I have been looking for old Tommy roots VHS teaching tapes for some time, but they seem very hard to find.

Anyone out there willing to part with any before they get lost forever?

hi Brian

As far as I am aware, Jeff only did videos of WW 13 to 24. They didn't sell so he stopped doing them.

However, in my opinion, they are the best tuition material that he ever did.

I recently bought a copy of the 'Live at BillyBobs' CD and played it today for the first time. What an excellent CD, a must have for all steel players.

It says on Wikipedia that Gary Stewart played on the 'Live at Panther Hall' CD by Charley Pride.

C6th Question

I have a piece of tab in front of me from 1990 which clearly show the use of pedals 5 and 7 together.
I have asked this before but am no wiser - how on earth does one do that without using two feet on the pedals?

I got back last evening after attending the show just on the Saturday. The steel playing was as good as I have heard in the years that I have been attending and the house band was probably as good as I have heard anywhere.

Well done everyone, and nice to see Sarah Jory back again.

I have found a review of this material from 1986.
Does anyone have a copy hidden away that they are willing to sell?
