Thanks Gary and Marty, you've been a great help. I just talked to one of Jim's sons on the phone. They've still got quite a few unused parts and miscellany out in the shop. Knee levers seem to be all gone, but otherwise I'm in business. Thanks again! I'll start another thread soon with pictures of t...

Clark Custom Parts = have been found!
This is a long shot, but I wonder if anyone knows what happened to the spare parts (if any) that were left when Jim Clark passed away in 2014? I'm restoring an early D-10 (the third one made) and would love to use some of the parts he made for the later models. Anything from fret boards, to knee lev...

Dekley S10 3X4 SOLD
I will probably regret this some day, I've had a lot of fun playing this guitar, but I've got to make room. This is lovely dark brown Dekley (a bit darker than the pictures show), SN 101-0063, which places it between '77 and '79. It's got the standard Emmons setup with Es on the left. There is a rea...

1962 Blonde Fender 400 w/ 8 pedals $900 shipped
I've had a lot of fun with this guitar but I need to make some room in the basement. I have another, near mint 400 that I'll probably list soon. So I completely disassembled, cleaned, and polished everything. When I pulled the frame of the body I found a piece of tape with the builder/inspector (?) ...

All Roads Lead To Red: A Pedal Steel Mixtape / Tribute
I don't believe this has been posted here yet, it just went up today I think. Someone has put together a mega mix of Red Rhodes pedal steel recordings. It is absolutely worth a listen and makes me very happy that someone out there cared enough to curate and post it: http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2...

Fender 1000 = SOLD
For your consideration is a '64/'65(?) Fender 1000. This has been a great guitar and I hate to see it go, but I need to generate some cash. THE GOOD: After buying it I completely tore it apart, cleaned and lubed everything, cleaned the pots for the tone and volume, and put it all back together with ...

Dear Marty, Here is a picture of the badge from my 400. I had a very hard time getting a really good picture with good clean lines. But I did my best. The dimensions are: 3 and 3/8 inches wide by 1 and 1/4 inch tall. The border is precisely 1/16 inch thick. Hope this helps: http://bb.steelguitarforu...

Thanks Neil! I have really loved working on this. Other than the difficulty of getting the changer all back together, I find the cable system a real pleasure to work on. I actually did a quick string up of the back neck last night and hooked up pedals 1-3. It worked! So easy to adjust and tune up, s...

It's been a while since I had a chance to post an update. I've been extraordinarily busy and rarely get a chance to work on this. But I have made some progress recently. Here is the 1000 completely stripped down except for the electronics: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/13003_IMG_0002_1....

A big thanks to Russ for recommending Qualasole. It did exactly what I was looking for. It covered the excessive checking of the original finish and totally fixed it in place. It still looks pretty much the same, but its got a nice hard semi-gloss protective layer on top. I also pulled each of the p...

Thanks Donny, I've got the bridge covers but not the knobs. I got the thing for a good price, so no complaints from me and I love working on it. I believe all I am missing are the tall knobs and two of the original hooks that connect the cables to the bell cranks, the other six are all there. The tw...

I've really appreciated the replies so far; thanks to all! I'm still wondering what to do about the paint flaking problem. Anyone want to weigh in on a safe way to protect it from further flaking? Has anyone ever tried putting a clear coat over an old paint job to protect it? Here's another picture ...
