Wow I really really enjoyed that track Mike Neer, because I tried a lot of those rags on piano a long time ago, and A.B. was one I could not for the life of me comprehend from the sheet music. There even was a player piano in the house at the time with a roll of that piece - a machine for mocking th...

I had a great time, as did everybody, obviously. Xtreme thanks to John Swain and his family. Also thanks to Jeremy S. for letting me plink on his Emmons, and to the guy who brought the lap steels (Ron V. ?), and thanks to everyone for putting up with me. I sounded worse, yet was less nervous than I ...

herb, I did not grow up in college http://steelguitarforum.com/rolleyes.gif I dropped out of Brown in 1975 and again in 1981--during the second try I was a music major taking pipe organ lessons and playing a Farfisa in a band called the Vice Grips. Tried to email you a fuller history but the mail bo...

I'm lefthanded but I'm learning and playing righthanded. Main reason I'm posting is because I plan to teach my daughter to play. She's two now and she will almost certainly need to play lefthanded, because her right hand is missing several fingers--just holding the bar with the right will be a chall...

I jacked up the heel of mine with a rectangle of plywood, but didn't glue it on there. Instead I screwed it on with longer screws I bought, ones that fit the tapped holes the screws for the rubber feet went into. This works fine and the pedal can still be sold later as a proper L-120. --------------...

Hey Bob, Something I noticed in England is, the *milk* is better--of course the beer is, but... The milk is not homogenized, or doesn't have vit.D added...don't know exactly why, but it tastes a whole lot better. If you get a chance, please double-check this perception for me. Will see you again in ...

Bill, I'm also 46. I started messing around with lap steels about five years ago, then bought a psg after seeing some really good players close-up at the the first Bethlehem jam. Jim Cohen, ebb, dva, Bob Hoffnar... everyone there was great or better I believe. Note, the whole psg thing came to me vi...

Paul Bain is great. He's on WFDU (89.1) on Thursday mornings now. The signal reaches the boroughs but fades in Nassau county. His show is called 'let there be country' and that's what it does. ------------------ Andy Newcomb a beginner on the steel guitar Williams Keyless S-10,...

This ebay one looks like a mess, but I have a prewar model 59 that is kind of nice. Has a loud wide-magnet pickup and has newspapers inside from '38. The jack is on the bass string side so you need to use an angle plug. Here's what a new one looked like (I think the picture came from Rickenback comp...

I live in New York (underneath the Queens side of Triboro Bridge) and, like others, waited to find out whether many of my friends had been left alive by this, and they are all ok which I hadn't dared hope for. They're all ok. I never felt like a target this way before and am enraged. My wife and I w...
