LKR Lever on a Carter Starter
I remember reading about someone that adjusted the LKR lever on their Carter Starter so that the swing distance was shorter. I tried doing this but I found that after shortening the swing distance I was not able to get the string to drop in pitch far enough. What exactly is the procedure for accompl...

Parts for a Carter Starter
I was adjusting one of the screws on my Carter last night and I snapped it right in half. Here are a couple of pics. Here you can see the screw head is broken off the top http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/12483_IMAG1427_1.jpg Here is the other knee lever that I didn't break http://bb.steelg...

I find it disappointing that people in this thread are discouraging the improvement of their Carter Starters. Every guitar that I own, which is about 7 have been modified to suit my needs. Since the Carter Starter is an entry level instrument it will need more modifications to suit players' various ...

Thanks Tucker. Good idea. I don't suppose a simple block of would could serve the same purpose? I'm going to give that a shot. I've never used that lever so I guess that I don't know what I'm missing. What about upgrading the floor pedals with those from another company such as Emmons or Mullen? Are...

According to Carter, the starter was made to the same specs on the body except for the set-up ala adjustable feet etc, 'Tone' should be just as good! Sorry, I think there is a misconception here. As a student model, the Carter 'Starter' is a very different animal than the professional models. The w...

Michael your suggestion in your first post was correct. Apparently where I live causes a significant amount of hum for single coil pickups. I plugged my strat in for comparison and in the 4th position it had the same amount of hum that the Carter did. I guess that I just need humbuckers for St. Paul...

Pickup Wiring on a Carter Starter
I replaced the input jack on my Carter Starter and now it has a significant hum. I think that I must have wired it up wrong. All it has is a 3 wire 10 pole pickup and a jack. The pickup has a white, red and an unshielded wire. Any suggestions on how to wire it to the jack to eliminate this hum? I sh...
