I suspect that Bruce might well concede that he is not even the Boss of the six string within his own band.

Recording a song way back, me on bass, we decided we'd give it a ska feel where it had been straight rock beat for a long time. the drummer was having a hard time getting his intro right. On the tenth take or so, when he finally nailed it, I was so distracted by his success that I lit into my bassli...

My sons will play most everything I have in the house: guitars, basses, mandolin, uke, etc. I have never seen them touch either the pedal steel or the dobro. There are days when I wish I had never touched a pedal steel, but I keep coming back.

I am fortunate enough to live about an hour away and drive directly past Billy and Wanda each time I take my kid to or from school. I am well aware of how lucky I am. Wonderful people and great place to just stand and stare at that room pictured on the website.

Given that their first album wasn't release until 78 or 79, I would not have guessed that he was 75. The Cars were not one of my favorites, but the songs were fun and Elliot Easton's lead guitar was always spot on.

Our dog will occasionally howl for the steel guitar but without fail to the harmonica. I'm pretty sure those are howls of pleasure since her tail wags all along. Once she squeezed out a fart, so I could be wrong.

I stabbed my thumb with a string end that I hadn't clipped as close to the peg as I thought. Blood everywhere. I yelled this line to the amusement of the otherwise disgusted listeners.

I don't follow the NBA any more, but I'm pretty certain the Knicks need more help than a steel guitar and a couple of cheerleaders.

Lesson One:

Lesson One: Play a lot of notes really fast and no one will know.

BTW: I am a proud owner of Desert Rose PSG and an OME banjo, and I wouldn't part with either regardless of your distaste for the latter.

Not certain of which was first as I do not have the receipts.
Any one of the Steely Dan records with Skunk Baxter on steel or Elvis Costello's Taking Liberties (a collection of B sides) with John McFee on the pedals.

I've only been playing about 4 years. Spent the first several months playing in Chuck's. A musician friend came by unexpectedly one evening when I was wandering around the house in socks. He asked for a demonstration and I haven't played with shoes on since.

I use Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing flats on mine. They are about twice the price of the D'Addario's that Jerry uses but, in my opinion, they last at least twice as long and sound better, at least to my ear. I think, in general, you will find flats better suit that guitar. Try several different brands...

Jim Cohen makes a good point. I played on a local cable morning show with a friend to promote his performances that coming weekend. The rest of the band wasn't arriving til the afternoon after the TV appearance which is why he needed a sub. I did it and enjoyed it very much. I played at least one cl...

The way I do it, in the given key here,

3rd fret 5, 6 and 8
3rd fret AB 5. 6 and 8
1st fret AB 4, 5 and 7 (A pedal obviously is unnecessary).
3rd fret AB 5, 6 and 8
And repeat.

Now that I've taken credit, I will admit that Billy Cooper showed me.
