Here's my invoice guitar. The body is slightly smaller, has the all-black bobbin pickups of a wraparound and brown felt underneath. I had it rebuilt underneath by Ian in Sacramento. He did a terrific job. Sounds unreal. Nothing can touch it for my ears. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/12...

B0b in his own way was as important to pedal steel as any of the great pickers. He sure touched a lot of pickers and those folks touched a lot of listeners around the world.

Anyone here playing steel for Allen Hilbert?

Allen is a gentleman from Kentucky perhaps and he sounds remarkably like George Jones. His band might be called "Possum Tracks." His steel player is outstanding.

I have a mahogany Formica invoice bolton. Do you see those pickups? No white line, right? They should be pretty much the same as those on a wraparound. Those pickups are to Emmons what a PAF pickup is to a Gibson Les Paul. They have tremendous clarity. Add to the fact that the invoice guitars usuall...

That was a clean, terrific sounding guitar when I had it. But the copendent wasn't for me. I sold it to a pro player up around Lake Tahoe. I cannot understand why you would want to disassemble the guitar. The don't sound the same after they have been taken apart. Like cars that undergo a rotisserie ...

I smoked three packs a day of Camels when I was living the honky tonk life so that guitar and I have bonded well. Ian is an absolute master at setting up a push pull. This guitar plays like butter and sounds unreal.

Serial number is inside on the end plate behind the C6th neck. The serial number is 2605. I would think the guitar is maple. Mahogany Formica sounds better. Ask anyone who owns a Martin D18. Smiles...

That one great guitar -- early bolton

Almost two years ago, I bought two D10 boltons. One was a black '67 in immaculate condition. Plays and sounds great. Vintage case was almost new. I sold it to a good picker in New Jersey who loves it, as did I. The other one is an invoice-number guitar in mahogany Formica. Th price was right but it ...

Do you know who is playing the steel?

Hazel Dickens is on of my all time favorites. On this cut, she gets more modern compared to most of her recordings. Does anyone know who might be the steel player? Sounds like a Bud but doesn't sound like Buddy or Pete or Lloyd. Even good guesses would be appreciated. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com...

1967 Emmons D10 Bolton (SOLD)

The guitar has been sold. It's going to a good home. 1967 Emmons D10 Bolton 8X4. Clean and so is the case. Very original guitar that plays and sounds as a bolton should. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1224_Black_Emmons3_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1224_Black_Emmons...

Seriously need help -- falling finger picks

I'm having a heck of a time with my picks. The edge of one pick catches the edge of the other and flicks it off. I got my first steel in 1973 and never had this problem before. They are the same set of vintage Nationals I've always used, bent the way Jeff showed us at class in 1977. But now that I'v...
