motor oil on changer
In defense of Al who suggested pouring 30 weight motor oil on the changer system, his DVD was made in 2010. I am going to give him a call just to see what he still thinks of this procedure. Meanwhile, after all of the posts on the subject, I will stick with light sewing oil.

motor oil on changer system
Yes bOb, Al is the professional where I got the idea from, his video. He slathered it on pretty thick. I bought a 4X2 slat board from Home Depot that fits perfectly under my guitar, and so far has saved my carpet from a few spots. good support too.

motor oil on changer system
I believe the professional applied it liberally to lubricate the whole changer system, top and bottom and in between the fingers. it might be a little excessive. You have to believe it will continue to drip for quite awhile. that's a lot of newspapers!

Haw Mike! I am about to put on some new Jagwire strings like you suggested, but wanted to do a little cleanup on the beauty of a Carter you sold me. So it sounds like you do not recommend this method. thanks for the input Mike!

motor oil on changer system
I have great respect for the professional who advised this method, but I wondered if any others have utilized this method of lubricating the changer system. the method involves pouring sae motor oil or 10w30 motor oil liberally into the changers, letting it set overnight and then wiping off excess o...

perfect shoe for PSG
For those who play in socks or bare feet, you are ironmen indeed. I noticed after playing awhile the sole will actually wear down into and indentation. I found a great shoe called a Merrell Jungle Glove Espresso (dont' ask why they call it that, it befounds me!) But they are slips on that give excel...

Brass dog bones
From posts so far looks like I can look forward to a future of the "brass dog bones of hell!" Lol The replacement dog bones are not cheap, at 5 bucks apiece, either. At least us Carter owners are fortunate to have a parts source in Canada!

brass dog bones
I have a Carter SD10 which is fantastic, but i had my first experience last night with the brass dog bone!! I have ordered extra brass dog bones because i know eventually i will lose one, as it is extremely difficult to attach a pull rod with one of these. They fell off, oh 20 times. Apparently the ...

PedalMaster The General SD8
For sale is my PedalMaster SD8 with current hardware manufactured by Roy Thomas. Very clean guitar. It has a tone control and a button added. It is called a Stutter Button and I understand it allows the user to get that Speedy West sound. Very unique. If you are into 8 strings this is a great unit. ...

Bill, where did you get the styro and cardboard from, Home Depot? that sounds like a good way to go, especially exposing the handle.

Larry, local pickup is got to be the best way to go. I've heard of players traveling 4, 5 hours to avoid shipping. But if someone from Detroit wants a PSG from Teaxas, what can you do?! Pad, more padding, insure, and cross your fingers!

Thank you all, I plan on having UPS box it up and ship and add insurance. From what I have garnered (and I don't often garner) it looks around 100 to 150 to get it properly to its destination. (Unknown at this point) A PSG in its case is a big item, but, sheesh, not THAT big. Last time I shipped, th...

Is there an average shipping price for a PSG to the lower 48? I am getting ready to sell my SD8 and trying to estimate shipping costs. The case is standard, wooden.

ZB custom for sale, opinions??
http://tulsa.craigslist.org/msg/4576185911.html The above link leads to a ZB custom D10. It is also for sale on EBay. I have made a bid on this but a few players are advising to stay away from this guitar as they can be a bugger to set up and keep in tune. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether t...

Ben, I have a bid on that very same guitar. But I am having reservations as some players are warning me they are a bugger to set up correctly. Got 8 days to go and not sure if I should go for it or let it go. Any opines appreciated before the the final bid.
