Sorry to say this:
My tech has been calling and mailing Emmons for nut rollers since at least mid summer this year.
So far no rollers, and if I understand correctly, no reply either.

Testimonial on Austin and pedal steel course with Neil Flanz
I have bumped the thread on pedal steel lessons in Austin, but I want to share it with you so I copied the text in this new thread: Last week me and my buddy finally went for our long-awaited Austin pilgrimage, which was a huge success! (although it appeared that Dale Watson AND Redd Volkaert were g...

Bump and testimonial: Go see Neil when in Austin!
I am bumping this thread, and I have a good reason to. Last week me and my buddy finally went for our long-awaited Austin pilgrimage, which was a huge success! (although it appeared that Dale Watson AND Redd Volkaert were gigging in our country right that week, but nevertheless...) One thing I did w...

Peer's ZB
Hi guys, Just happened to bump into this great thread, and I attached the only picture that I have of the ZB mentioned in Peer's mail. Peer, I am not sure that the guitar shown on this picture is the ZB you owned, as it looks not as green as in your picture. This guitar is (unfortunately) not built ...

Fishman Loudbox: good amp for resoph. guitars
Hi everybody: I do not spend too much time on this part of the forum, but I wanted to share this information with you. Last weekend I had my first gig in which I had to play my Melobro resophonic guitar live in an electric band. The day before I compared an AER (forgot the type) against the new Loud...

I totally agree with all respondents that it will be very hard, if not impossible, to find a teacher with the same didactical skills of Jeff. He was unique in all respect. That being said, even with a teacher having 50% of his skills it'll be worth it to come over. The first step, however, is a teac...

Steve! I always knew that Billy had a great taste for steel guitar players. I've been a big fan of you ever since I heard Danni Leigh's 29 nights CD. Thanks. I have heard Reese's name mentioned before. I will certainly keep it in mind! But I hope you understand that for us Europeans the Nashville area has this magical aura around it. It is about the combination of taking a course during the day and hopefully finding a good band (preferrably with ...

Who's gonna fill Jeff's shoes
Hi all: I remember the wonderful two weeks of playing with Jeff Newman in 1998 and 2001. And I miss him dearly. I am sure we all do. I know this is a tough question, and I don't want to be disrespectful, but is someone offering this kind of one on one classes (like 3 day courses) in the Nashville ar...

Billy is absolutely great. I have three CDs of his, of which two are autographed. He has visited my country a number of times. Sadly, his local management always lets him play with a local band that does not have a steel player. Great steel too. Listen to 'Down at the station' and 'Dreaming out Loud...

Anyway, thanks everybody for making the interesting offers. We'll wait for the next trip to the US. And on behalf of my girlfriend, who will join me on the tr...

Rock on your steelgitar little Jonah
Our band is going to play this nice song from Brenda Lee.
Can anybody help me with the intro and the intro to the steel solo? I have an idea, but can't figure it out exactly.
Who is that steel guitar player anyway? Would that be Speedy West?
Much appreciated!

I usually mic my amp, but this is an interesting thread. Maybe I should try going direct again. Anybody use the Evans rack preamp? It is in my rack, but I have not tried it yet. I bought it from somebody who had to part with it. Funny that the Roland GP 100 is mentioned here a couple of times as wel...

I am recently added to the Derby family as well. I got mine (a black D-10) in November. I needed a second steel fast, and Charlie happened to have this baby in stock. As I had to be in Silicon Valley for business reasons back in November, Charlie sent it to my address over there (with one week's not...

Moon River final bars
Hi everybody, My band wants to play Lloyd's version of Moon River. I can play most of it, but I really really would like to play the ending as Lloyd Green does. From Bb7 to F#7 and then somehow back to Ebmaj7 with the chimes. But I have no idea how Lloyd does this (familiar question, right?;-) Can s...

Pedal steel in Spain?
Hello everybody, I am a steel player from the Netherlands and I will be gigging with a Dutch band at the Spanish northern coast (Malgrat de Mar). I will be doing five shows for a group of Dutch/Indonesian tourists travelling along. I will be there between 31 May and 10 June. I was wondering whether ...

I had the privilege of flying over to the states and stay at Jeff and Fran's lodge for two weeks in 1998 and in 2001. His patience and teaching capabilities are legendary! We played nothing but scales for three days from 8AM till 4PM. The other days were mostly spent in the sun drinking coffee and j...

Thank you for your thoughts. I was not intending to cage myself entirely. The baffle would be just high enough to cover the instrument on the stand, and maybe a bit higher, and then use a unidirectional mic. I also made the drum comparison, although I figure that the baffles they use for drummers ar...

Acoustic separation baffles on stage?
Hi everybody: I had this (stupid?) idea that I would like to share with you. I am gearing up my Melobro to use on stage along some pretty loud playing fellow musicians (we play e.g. easy money by waylon jennings). The problem is, obviously, to fight feed back and the general sound level of the instr...
