Oh man, that’s heartbreaking! It’s always such a great group of pickers and friends that get together in Baxter Springs. We’ve always had such an amazing time down there!

Man, this really takes the wind from your sails!

Such a huge loss to our community. B0B has done so much for the steel guitar.

I always hoped that someday I would get the chance to meet him.

Prayers for his friends and family.

This is some terribly sad news!!!

Years ago, I did a deal with Bob and wound up with an amazing pedal steel. I’m pretty sure that he really helped me out since I was young and fairly new to pedal steel.

What a great guy he was!!!

This is heartbreaking news!

Roy was such a talented guy, a real legend and probably the nicest guy that you could ever hope to meet.

My family and I always enjoyed his playing at Baxter Springs. What a huge loss!

He was a knowledgeable fellow!

I never had the chance to have him work on my stuff, but her certainly gave great advice. There’s not many of the old school tech guys like him around.

Dang!

I got my first modern pedal steel (a used Carter-Starter) from Billy and he treated me so great. Not only was it a killer deal, but he threw in so many extras and was so pleasant to deal with. I had hoped to meet him in person some day☹️

Man…what a loss!!! Talk about a great picker and an even better person!!! He always made pedal steel look so easy and he always looked like he was having so much fun.

This COVID-19 has been taking some exceptionally great people ☹️

Damn. Just damn. Sorry for cursing. I heard about Mikey D’s passing and haven’t really felt like talking. I’ve known him from the forum for a long time, but I guess I got to meet him in person 13 years ago or so...seems like yesterday! He was such a talented musician, wealth of country music k...

Shipping costs on lap steels

Does anyone know what an average or fair shipping cost is on a lap steel in the USA? This would be a single neck, 6-stringer comparable to probably a Fender in weight. Has anyone bought or sold one recently? Maybe the better question would be, what’s a fair price for shipping? I haven’t bought o...

I’ll admit, it was awkward to not be packing stuff Thursday night and more awkward to get up on Friday and just head to work. It was really strange feeling to just spend the weekend around the house. I look forward to the KSGA show and I know that when October hits it’s time for some amazing pic...

I had the good fortune of meeting Smiley when I hired Les Gilliam and his band to play a giant barndance. Not only was a great steel player, he was such a nice guy.

He sure was a good one!!!

1966 Fender Blackface Princeton $900+shipping

1966 Fender Princeton Amp. This is a vintage blackface, non-reverb amp. Great tone & really good headroom!!! These seem cleaner that the Princeton Reverb. It needs the two back panels replaced (repros are available), I would recommend a good cleaning, install a 3 prong plug & perhaps have a ...
