Peavey Artist 240...good steel amp???

I'm just getting back into learning steel and been searching for an amp and have run across an old Peavey Artist with a 15 inch Black Widow.. I'm not familiar with this amp, can anybody tell me if this will make a good steel amp

I have a Carter Starter for sale, comes with a BMI case (fits but real tight), 2 tone bars, pics, spare set of strings, and a Dunlop High Gain Volume Pedal, also a tuning wrench. All in good condition just don't have time to dedicate to learning.. $800 plus shipping

I was wondering if anybody has tried this amp with steel? I got it on a trade several months ago and kept it around as a backup guitar rig, been playing steel thru it at home and it works great for a practice amp, has built in effects with a real sweet reverb/delay..just curious if anyone has gigged...

I read here on the forum that one of the best things to do is sit down with a seasoned player and have him give you some pointers, I had the chance to do that today for a couple hours and was an awesome experience!! Sounds Great!!! IMO Ahead of the times, these days that would be classified as the "Red Dirt" sound, people are raving about that stuff...get that heard by the right people and you have a hit!!
