Dan Schafer

I stumbled on this video of Dan Schafer while he was backing Becky Hobbs.
Monster sustain on that beautiful MSA.
Dan seems to be another "Roy Clark" in the way of mastering numerous instruments.
He's got quite an impressive resume.

Another name the steeler

Hello gang!

I exhaust my search efforts, then I ask the question here and immediately get an answer.

So, who all played steel for Dale McBride?

Primarily the singles from 1977 thru 1979.

Here's one particular selection.
Thanks in advance.

Steve Wariner/ steel players

I can't seem to find any info online... I have some suspicions on a few guys it could be but id like to hear some of your opinions. Or! If you know who is playing steel on this Steve Wariner classic!!

I'm leaning towards Sonny Garish or Weldon Myrick...

I really enjoy this performance, I'm fairly certain it's Dicky playing steel.
What a monster on the steel indeed! Pure talent and heart bending those strings!!

Thanks Fred and all the others. Something I have learned is I spend too much time trying to replicate what I hear on a recording or even a live version. It took me awhile to learn that sometimes a backing track of certain instruments is played during the show, then I ask myself "how in the heck...

Thanks for all the insight guys- I really do appreciate it.

Dave, I was wondering on that part of the reverb in my amp.
I play thru an older Lab5 and I think it needs some work.

I was curious on the album how much "magic" was worked in from the sound booth..... lol

Technique, Looking for a sound

Still relatively new to my "re-acquaintance" with steel, (2 1/2 years) I'm looking for a sound. I am having a heck of a time getting all of it. Best described, it can be found in a John Conlee song. "Miss Emily's picture".... 2:30- 2:40 of the following link would be a great exam...

That's a bigger height adjustment than I've ever heard of anyone needing. Is your guitar underheight now? In general, a 2" lift kit is just about all anyone needs. Odd. Unless you're really short and playing standing up! KP No Ken, it was regular height. My darn legs are just that long. When t...

Lane, an excellent idea- thank you- I'm trying to do the chair on a barter and not wanting to have to put any money into that part, at least nothing fancy yet. Going to start with a wood one, and if this all works the way I hope it will... will more than likely get in touch with him next summer abou...

Starting the "remodel"....

Ok, if any of you fine folks remember me, when I joined I asked about making my Mullen SD10 "taller" due to my height and not being able to properly sit behind it when playing. The straw that broke the camels back was last weekend. I spent more time scooting my ass back and fourth on the c...

I have a L5 amp, identical to the amp shown in the following link: http://www.diyguitarist.com/GuitarAmps/LabSeriesL5.htm I'm in the market for something a little smaller and a different sound. I'm wondering what this monster might be worth for a trade in or selling outright- then getting an amp tha...

Shaffer, I'm barely a year into my re-introduction to the PSG- so I have no room to talk about experience, But i know what did it for me. :) I got bit at a Gene Watson show. He had the "Farewell Band" if I remember correctly. I didn't want to be there of course, but when I heard the PSG so...
