Thoughts on Scale length & material for practice board.
Hello, been a way from the forum and steel for awhile. Now back practicing since I'm retired. I would like to make a lap steel for practice when I travel. I play a Sierra U12 with 25" scale. If I were to duplicate it, my practice board would probably be 32" long. I'm thinking that is too b...

I bought one just like that, but different color for $400. Craigs list in Rochester NY. I thought it was a good deal, to get something and see if I liked it. After about 3 months I decided I needed an up grade, adding levers seemed too expensive. So I got a used U12. You will want something more, so...

I'd never you any parafin based lube on a steel guitar. With petroleum oil, paraffin based does not mean it has paraffin wax in it. It means it is based on molecules of long chains of carbon. Paraffin wax is also long molecules, that's why it's called paraffin. The alternative is aromatic, based on...

Alumitone Splittable - why?
I just received an Alumitone for my U-12 Sierra. It fits nicely in a Sierra removable pickup boot. It has wires like this: http://www.lacemusic.com/pdf/13.pdf What is gained or lost by using it in splittable mode? I can probably wire it to use the switch already on the guitar. This switch, switches ...
