Flying with a steel is a huge pain. You could move the pedals from the bottom neck until you find replacements.
There is a set screw in the hole next to the ball joint that tightens on a steel dowel. Use a 3/32” Allen wrench to loosen it and push out the dowel. Pedal will pop right off.

I drive a Subaru Ascent. I lay down the third row seats and put down a couple of moving blankets in the cargo area. I can lay my guitar down on its front side and take the rear legs off. Still plenty of room for the rest of my kit. I have a nice double padded Studio Slips on the guitar as well. You ...

I have one as well, not near as nice as Erv's. I think it's a 1956 because of the push button neck switch. It needs a little TLC. This is the medium scale 24.5 "

I finally hooked my sesh 400 up last night. Ran into a Jay Ganz power amp into a single 12”, sounded fantastic and plenty loud for any gig. Nice and clean with that present low end that we all liked in the original Peavy amp. I opened it up to take a look, T.C. used very high quality components thro...

Jim, I'm glad this guitar went to someone who appreciates it. I wish it was still with me but it just stayed in case all the time.
It is a looker!

I played a demo unit at the TSGA Jamboree and ordered one the next morning. It really captures the character of a good Session 400 and fits on a pedalboard. Nicely done T.C.!

The Carter rods did have rolled threads. As Bobby said, they are not as crisp looking and vary a bit in diameter. I would go with 4/40 as I think it would get you closer to the factory rods. You can also buy adjustable dies.

Roger I put the string 3 lower as well as 6 and 9 on one of my guitars and it’s going on another as soon as I can get to it. I love the tonality of it.
It did not time as well as I like but I may put a gear down on it.

That is a ‘70’s MSA changer mounted on something else. It could be a MSA body from the pre Micro days, but it’s hard to tell. Sort of a Frankenstein.. I advise caution.
Just my two cents…

I built all but 2 of the Magnum guitars when I worked at Carter guitars. They are quality guitars and I always thought they played a little better than the Carter guitars.

What Mark called the “Smithey” raises 6 string 1 1/2 tones and lowers 7 a whole tone. It’s good for special effects and contrary harmony. I don’t know where it came from but it’s a lot of fun.
I don’t have it anymore because I’m always trying something new just to get me out of my comfort zone.
