McKenna 8 String Resonator, $1,050 w/free shipping USA
For sale is my 8-string resonator. Gregg built this for me in 2011. It is in near-perfect shape. Almost like new! I've taken it out of my studio only a few times to a bluegrass jam. It has a big sound that will even make the banjo boys back down. I've decided to go back to 6-string because my finger...

Thanks for the encouragement
Ted, I appreciate your encouraging words.
I think starting from scratch might be fun.
I already own several great guitars to use for inspiration.
Will order the book soon; also some of this is online at:

Thanks again.

Source for lapsteel wood blank?
Does anyone know of a source for a pre-shaped wood blank for a lapsteel? George Piburn had some in the past, but he has sold all of his. I am thinking about a long scale S6. I don't have acess to all the woodworking tools, but should have an OK time with the hardware and electronics. If this is alre...

LapSteel strings on resonator?
I would like to try out different tunings on my square neck resonator. Stock string sets don’t match up.How about using lap steel guitar strings? I have had good luck with cobra coil strings from steel guitar Nashville. They will sell single strings, and I can make up my own set. Any ideas about t...

A Little Deer Antler Dust
If you have access to any critter antlers, just scrape a little bit into dust. Then mix the dust with the baking soda. Mask everything well with the nut in situ, add the glue, and presto...a new nut.

I am curious about the Low A tuning. I am helping a disabled friend set up a 6 string for playing blues. We discovered several things: He needs to strum, not pick, but he can strum one or several strings at a time. He needs to strum in reverse, so we need to string the guitar with the bottom strings...

I like to use the studybass.com site. You can do a custom tuning for up to 12 strings (I use eight) and get all sorts of scales and chords. Easy to use and print fretboard diagrams, plus you can save as a PDF if you want to print more in the future. You can save the diagrams labeled by letter name o...

E7 tuning
Lately I have been looking into E7 tuning with the 7 on top. I am working with a friend who wants to play 6 string lap steel for the blues. He has physical limitations that do not allow for slants or pinches, so he uses straight bar and strum. Several forum members recommended the E7 as a classic bl...

Adaptive Techniques for Disabled Veteran to Play the Blues
I am looking for help for a friend. He is a Marine who suffered a surfing spine injury that left him quadraplegic. He has amazing grit. He has regained some use of his hands and arms; he drives; he lives a very independent life. He played some acoustic guitar before his injury, but now he wants to p...
