My brother and I went to see Dale and Ricky when they were at Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta a good while back. Those two guys were made for each other. No need to comment on Ricky’s tone and playing, you know what it was!

Similar to what Ray did, but I made brackets that hook to the side of my seat. For me, it was more convenient to change programs sitting there. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1080_ECD6F8506D614202AFA2493521C79884_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/1080_B6A696CCA4054BFBB03...

Peavey 1203-4 sound-alike?

I’m pushing a Peavey 1203-4 Black Widow in a cabinet with a Quilter Steelaire Rackmount, and really love the way it sounds. I don’t, however, love the weight. Has anyone modeled this speaker with a neo magnet? I’d love to lighten the load a little.

Jack Strayhorn is a member here. Maybe he will see this and post a reply. Jack was with Emmons far a longtime and some of their best guitars were built under his watch.

You have a pretty healthy budget to work with. You can find some very nice guitars in that price range. As mentioned, the Mullen Discovery is a great guitar and Mullen customer service is top notch. You can get a loaded guitar that will cover all of your E9 needs and not max out your funds.

If you’re handy enough to do all of the modifications you mentioned, can you build a pedalboard case with enough room on the bottom to use pac-a-seat legs under it and have them fold up?

I think Vince had such a huge hit with this song because of what John played. Vince had this to say about John’s work on this song. “It (the intro) makes the song recognizable by what happens before any words are ever sung. John played the best steel guitar solo ever”. Vince himself puts this song i...

Lee, I also carry a spare pedal for the reason this post was made. And, I’ve never had a string break. But when I change pots, the string gets changed as well. It’s cheap and gives a little extra peace of mind.

Chrome plated bar on nickel strings

A while back I switched from stainless wound to nickel wound. I just recently saw that the chrome plated bar that I use is recommended for stainless strings, but a stainless bar should be used on nickel strings. So, am I damaging my chrome bar? Am I not getting the tone that nickel strings offer? Wh...
