I also think it is really a ZB. But, with new fretoards, knee levers, pedals, and possibly new legs. Everything else is pretty much identical, including the body. Of course, it is possible that he copied a ZB and made everything, including all castings, but I doubt it.

Are we sure it's actually a Marlen? Never saw a student model, and never knew Marlen to have a volume pot hooked to a foot pedal.

I've bought stuff in person from Haight Ashbury Music in San Francisco. They are good people. They are probably fake accounts.

Found this when I Googled Haight Ashbury Music (Dated 8/6/19 on SF Gate):
Nearly 40 years since opening, the historic Haight Ashbury Music Center is closing its doors.

I used to use my MS50G for reverb and delay as my NV400 reverb died. I have been using a Nu-X Atlantic for reverb and delay running in my effects loop of either the NV400 or my NV112. I wanted to add some chorus and an autowah to my bag of tricks. After using Tonelib Zoom to edit patches in my MS50G...

What Donny said. I use a very fine grit wet/dry paper to barely touch up the groove and polish with a felt wheel on a dremel type tool. Don't apply too much pressure when sanding as it may give you a flat spot. I wish steel manufacturers would use replaceable changer top caps. ZB Custom used to have...

Zoom G1 Four Review

After my Zoom MS50G died, I decided to get a Zoom G1 Four multi effects pedal. It was cheaper than a new MS50G, and had additional features like a looper and rhythm section function. It would also be much easier to switch between patches. Well, the sounds of the included effects are good. But, some ...

I took an iron to a gig once. My last bandleader would tell the audience that for a fee, I would iron their clothes.

My best was in the 70's. I was doing a duet with my best high school buddy at a friend's birthday party. His gorgeous girlfriend came up to tell me what a beautiful organ I have. Woo woo!

If you raise it to G#, with a little practice, you can feel enough to get the raise to G without retuning. It's also possible to use your fingers behind the bar to pull the first string to G (works and looks cool 😎). Someone mentioned to me that they pull the first string behind the bar to G#. I tri...

I have a BL XR-16 on the E9 neck of my Carter and a 710 on C6. I wired a switch on the XR-16 to switch it from humbucker to single coil. The single coil sounds very different than humbucker. I prefer the sound of the single coil better on E9, but there are venues that single coils hum too bad, and I...

I used a Dynacomp in the 70's and 80's, but not for sustain or to even out my picking. I set to "squish" pretty dramatically to get a "popping" type sound similar to what Tele and Strat players were getting. I used one of those dual headed 1/4" adapters to plug it directly i...

More pictures (closeups) of the changer, end plate, and undercarrige would help. Those kinds of pics will help.

Unless that is one of Kevin Hatton's later ZBs (never seen one), that is NOT a ZB undercarriage. As far as I can see, it's just a ZB body.

Good point, Chris. Maybe too long for a vertical. I have always found half step changes best for the vertical. I tried the F# to G# on the vertical on my Carter, and it didn't work well. Travel was too long. I put it back to just raising my F# strings to G. I have the F# to G# (along with 2nd strin...

-- I consider raising the 1st string to be far more useful than raising the 2nd, by a large factor, if you are going to only pull one. Unfortunately it creates another subjedt which is 'raise it to G or raise it to G#? IMO G# is very very cool for licks. But G gives you a killer Dom7 with pedals do...

A Legrand 3 has the anti-detune mechanism. My guess is that it is part of that. Hopefully someone can answer your question about moving that rod. Maybe try to reach out to Jack Strayhorn.

John - I just checked; I have no more 'lower' spaces on the 6th so my original post is moot. (I can't figure out why both my 'lowers' are occupied - I only lower the 6th one time; on pedal 6!!! What's the other tuning hex doing there?) Where does the second rod hook to? Could it possibly be a compe...

I have repaired and changed the setup on 2 Fessenden guitars. They are easy to work on. You should have the parts in the guitar that you will need since all pedals and levers have 2 string pulls already (except the vertical). You just need to move the bell cranks (some call them rod pullers ir pull ...

One of the arguments for having E raises and lowers on separate knees is, when you are in the A pedal and E to F lever (F lever) position (3 frets up from no pedals position - ex. E chord at fret 3) is to have the ability to be able to lower the E strings from F to D# without the delay or bump you w...
