Terry, what is the bar in the bottom right corner of your photo -- the one with the matte-silver finish (aluminum?) & the SP-1-ish profile? And where/how can I get one?

Need Advice on a Pickup

I assume by "Byrd-like" you refer to the sound of Roger McGuinn on electric Rickenbacker 12-string. For a comparable chime tone, you can't go wrong with a vintage Supro lap steel with string-through pickup. I can recommend the excellent Supro-style string-through pickups made by Jason Loll...

It makes one start to believe in psychic powers. Either that or the angels were watching over you. In a world containing millions of guitarists, and hundreds of thousands of stolen guitars, it would be miraculous if a few instruments didn't find their way back to their owners. Anyway, this is a goo...

The Hipshot folks in my experience tend to respond quickly to a personal query. I bet they'd be willing to swap a new unit for your old one.

James: I bet you'd have a better chance of selling this if you posted bigger photos, including details of pickup (with cover off), tuners, nut, signs of wear, etcetera. And please clarify -- does the sale include legs and case? If so, show those too. Good luck!

Check out these photos & schematics at Denny's Guitars. The Magnatones he's talking about are probably very similar to your Dickerson.

There is one Davion listed in the 1910 census that could fit our Davion's age, but the census lists him as coming from South Africa, not India. From Wikipedia : "There are more than 1 million Indians in South Africa, most of whom are descended from indentured labourers who were brought into th...

Bill Lawrence still makes and sells the Q Filter. Order it at http://www.wildepickups.com/Q-filter.html.

However, I don't believe it eliminates buzz. It's more of a tone shaper.

US-made Accutronics reverb tanks are rare (no longer made) and highly prized. I've seen them go for twice or three times as much.

New Shaped Tone Bars from Paloma Stone Slides

I recently received an OJ-BNSC cobalt blue bar from Jay. It's got a beautiful smooth finish and fits quite comfortably in the hand -- lighter than metal yet sufficiently hefty. The tone is warm but not muted; I'm hearing plenty of harmonics. This Paloma bar is a nice alternative to the SP1 I've been...
