Details & Pics
It's been maybe 7-8 years since I did these mods, but I believe I remember what I did. The master volume is "2" on the Normal channel side. The Vibrato side of the amp is the sDumbel distortion part of the amp. It goes in or out of series after the Normal side, when you select it using the...

Price/Pics
If anybody is seriously interested in entertaining buying it, I'll send pics. Price? I dunno. What's it worth? I don't care about extracting every penney I can for it, I just want to move it. I'll take $750 for it. Split shipping & packaging for ship. I forgot to mention I put a 6-position tone ...

1970 Twin Reverb Rewired Like a sDumbel SSS
I have a 1970 vintage (approximately) Fender Twin Reverb that I modified to emulate (supposedly, based on internet schematics) a sDumbel Steeel Striiing Siiinger (name misspelled because it got struck down on eBay due to sDumbel complaining, I guess). Also removed the tolex and put a new grill on it...

Those shoes look VERY comfortable AND make a great fashion statement... the moccasins too! I'll have to try some moccasins some time.

Twin Wiring Mods
I can't speak to changing the tone stack, but there's a book called "Great Tube Amp and Guitar Mods" by Mike Thompson. It has all sorts of Fender amp mods... master volume, adding tone coloring stacks, pull the Bass knob for more bass, etc. etc. With that book + some stuff I found on the i...

Pedal Steel "Shoes"
Hi everyone. I bought some fuzzy slippers with soles from Keen and discovered by accident that they work real well for pedal steel (for me, anyway). Actually they work better than my standard steel footwear (Vans). Being slippers, they're extremely comfortable, obviously. Here they are if you're cur...

BIAB Question
I went onto PG Music's site, and there are several versions of BIB availablle; some, apparently(?) with real music somehow? My question is this, which version of BIAB should I get? I'm willing to pay if something is substantially better.

Wallace TT Question
Through magnetic induction, the mounting screws are magnetically coupled to the magnet in the pickup, and I doubt very much that insulation (a spacer) would make any noticeable difference.

Cube 80XL vs. Twin
I have played Twins extensively since 1978 - most of that time exclusively. I bought a Roland 80XL recently. They're both GREAT amps with mostly minor differences (except weight). For tone, I'm not sure which one I prefer. They sound different; the Twin thinner, the Roland bassier/midrangier, but th...

Bad Practice Habits
This is an excellent thread of huge importance. Our choices define us largely. If we choose to practice the wrong thing every day, not only does it NOT serve to improve us, thus wasting time, but we're NOT practicing the RIGHT thing - doubly wasting time. Anyway, enough of that high horse. My bad ha...

Tom Bradshaw's Tab Rack
I just got one of Tom's TAB racks and love it. Not only do I no longer have to hassle with a music stand that takes up room and is farther away from the steel, but the rack is well built and super wide, so I can put a lot of stuff on it, including picks/bar. I also appreciate that it's custom fabric...

Locking Tuners
That's a very good question - why don't steels have locking tuners on them? I think the reason is "because that's the way it's always been done." But, locking tuners are the way to go. I have them on all my 6-string guitars and would've bought them eons ago if I'd known how much time &...

Biller is The Killer
I'm not easily impressed - not at all, but Dave Biller very much impresses me. He's at the very top of his game - 6 string and steel. Biller is fantastic - absolutely killer - at both instruments -and extremely effective playing vastly different styles. He's who I wish I played like. It's not that h...

Single Coil vs. Humbuckers
I've only been playing steel for about a year, but I've played much electric guitar for decades. I've played both humbuckers and single coils extensively. For my taste, and it is entirely a matter of personal taste, a single coil is the way to go - for steel. There's something about the way they sin...

Best/Worst Amps
Hi. Best Amp for Steel, I really like my '70 Twin Reverb that I modified to be very similar to a Dumble Steel String Singer. Frankly, the distorted tones are not that convincing (not that they're needed for steel), but it has a rich, boomy bass/mid that sounds great with the steel. Too heavy though ...

Been 3 weeks
I'm a fairly accomplished jazz/country guitar player (35 years). I borrowed a PSG (ZB Custom E9 3X4) 3 weeks ago from Ken Metcalf. It's very fun and frustrating. It's very difficult to get it to sound just right. I just have to hang with it until my body parts start doing what I want 'em to do &...

WTB Modern Universal S-12
Hi everyone. I'm Brent, a knowledgeable guitar player beginning PSG and I'm looking for a fair deal on a pro quality, modern universal S-12. Ken Metcalf loaned me an S-10 and is assisting me (and I greatly appreciate it). Thanks and I'm having a ball so far! :P P.S. What does "bump" mean?
