It isn't just steel. Same could be said for mandolin, banjo and fiddle. Steel has it's roots in traditional country and country by and large has veered from traditional. These instruments have become typewriters in a world of computers. Anymore it's hard to tell where pop, rock and country begin or ...

Printers have no way of knowing how much ink you have. They count sheets. It is based on 5% black coverage. If you took the text on a fully typewritten page and squeezed it together in a solid black block it would be a black 1 square inch. That is 5% coverage. So another way to look at it is a fully...

Thanks for the inputs and I'm still looking for more. Bob I see you deleted your post. No need to. I am a newbie and I watch my feet to see if I'm even on the right pedals. I know you are not supposed to and I figure I'll get better as time goes by. I also figure if it wasn't for us newbies then the...

S10 vs SD10 Pad vs No Pad

In contemplating a future purchase I wonder about others opinions regarding S10 vs SD10, pad vs no pad. Did the pad come about to reduce fatigue or fill in on a conversion? I wonder the pros and cons including weight, posture, drag on the pad, comfort, good form, bad form fatigue or prevention of it...

Ken, expensive is a relative term. The majority of the price of an HP or Lexmark inkjet (example) is for the new printhead built in the cartridge not the ink. A long time ago these companies very ingeniously designed these carts so that the user is installing a new print head every time they buy a n...

To clone means just that. If your source is 250GB so is your destination. If your destination if 500GB then you have 250GB left over when you clone. Most reputable cloning software will prompt you as to how you want to proceed. Exact 250GB clone or take up all disk space. Unless you have a very vali...

Thanks Bill. You're 1 of the couple of versions I had found....lol. Good job. I wanted to see as many interpretations as I could. I have played this song a million times on bass but I never realized the intricacies and subtle differences in the way people play this song.

Paragon and Casper are both good cloning and backup programs but you might go directly to the hard drive manufacturer. Since the prime objective, after buying a new hard drive, is to clone the old drive many manufacturers offer a free cloning software. (or at least used to).

Black absorbs more energy than any other color. All that energy is channeled thru the pickups which pull on the strings like a star trek tractor beam resulting in more sustain, volume and vibrance. This gain is negated however if your guitar cord is plugged in backwards.

Apologies for not answering your question. Lenovo makes a good laptop. Sweetheart just bought one to replace her old HP. This is a good unit. Main thing is to get 4GB memory and Intel processor.

The computer that screws up on you will be the worst brand in the world. I have had 2 HP's. Desktop & laptop. Both lasted a decade. Both were purchased as refurbs. HP support was stellar (after you got past the auto phone system) they supported them as brand new units. I build computers so I see...

Back in my typewriter repair days they required a light oil that would not gum. That was a 10W clear oil. Now days there is a paper shredder oil that can be found at most office supplies that is the same caliber.

That's also the same symptom of a dirty pot. Get a can of contact cleaner from an Electronics store and give it a squirt and work it back and forth. There are many times some openings that you can shoot some cleaner into. If you had a syringe or dropper you could squirt some rubbing alchohol into it...

I would venture to say no more than corrosion has plagued battery cables. The translation for oxidation is laziness be it the hood of your car, your finest silver or your guitar strings. Of course it's a natural process but it can be diminished or accelerated by how you care for your rig. Wipe em' d...

IMHO any impact of a string cut would be minimized by insuring the post has as many wraps as possible. Ideally the post being full without overlapping. The string is cut at that point after the fulcrum of the wraps. More damaging would be a string kink. In my 40 years of working on guitars (non-stee...

The things everyone is saying 'all' make perfect sense even though some disagree with each other. That is the nature of discussing vintage or even tube vs digital. Larry I've heard of Frenchy's however that's still an 8 hour round trip. I'm actually closer to Amarillo or Lubbock, TX, at 5 hours round trip, if I can find a dealer in that neck of the woods.
