This picture of Sol with Dick McIntire shows couple of Dickerson amps and (what is presumably) a Dickerson guitar. It looks quite different to the guitar Sol is holding in the original photo.

Help!!!!

Gentlemen, I have a 1930s bakelite Rickenbacker steel guitar. It's in great shape except for the fact that the ball end of one of the strings is stuck in the string channel (it loads from the rear like a Tele). Any suggestions for getting it out? It's hard to push anything through from the front as ...

Kevin, I've not found the nearside wing restricting. If that is a concern however, you could move the point at which the wing curves down a little closer to the body. I think that the asymetrical look is part of the Danos appeal - a bit like 'modern' furniture of the 50s - which goes with the light ...

"Plain and functional perhaps" Functional,,, yes. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1029/3167_200203061400823_1.jpg OK John, I was referring to the original US built Danos, none of which, to my knowledge came with a sparkle finish! I guess that the Longhorn design is rather flamboyant...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, but I've owned many Danelectros over the years including the lapsteel and I don't find them in the least ugly. I Plain and functional perhaps - but no more so than a Telecaster (a guitar that I also love!)

Bakelite Rickenbacker/chrome plate

The treble side chrome plate is missing on my Bakelite Rickenbacker. Does anyone have one of these for sale? Alternatively, do you have any suggestion as to who could make me a replica? :?:

So a top quality new Dobro - by one of the above mentioned US builders - is now more expensive than a vintage example? The same doesn't appear to apply to Nationals, where vintage guitars remain pricier than their new equivalents.
